have you run all windows updates ?
if no.. Do so ..
As it happened to me in different game.. I reinstalled to win-7 .. .and the game wont even start ..put some error message.. Later on, when i updated system, it fixed the problem, and it worked. .
Also if you got EVE installed in "system directory" you will have to run it as an administrator.. or something along the lines.. As it will require permission to change files.. etc. |

Make sure you have the latest updates for Windows, drivers for your graphic card, DirectX updates, all administrator rights, and / or codecs, also try another game, try to play movie and YouTube video & sound check. May sound silly, these little things are very good indicators how well your computer is set.
Also make sure EVE is installed correctly, try safe mode to run it. If no luck, try to run under Windows XP for example via right click on EVE icon, properties, compability

Real UAC? No. MS thinks you're an idiot and don't deserve admin out of the box accounts like admin and guest are hidden for most distros of win 7 and it doesnt consider 'user' or 'owner' as admins either nor does it give you the 'tools' to make it so.
You can avoid alot of heart ache though by running the installs as admin and installing it for 'everyone' on the terminal.
Mac and Linux are the same way as far as Im concerned with root user but at least root is easy to get into on most macs its not even funny.

It's not the OS because I've been running multiple accounts (up to 6 at a time) on my Windows 7 machine for over a year now. So it must be something in your configuration, etc. My suggestion - uninstall the EVE software and re-download/re-install it. Sucks if you're on dialup but... |

This is a typical sign for DirectX9c not properly installed
Try running C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\DXSETUP.exe
Maybe you have to run this setup as Administrator.

I'll say it again. Uninstall/Reinstall Eve, if you have not done so. In place upgrades of the Windows OS come with many horror stories of lite reading while you wait for it to complete. I've never done an in place upgrade. Always a fresh install when updating to a new version of Windows since it is known to be problematic for all but the most cozy of software partners of which I'm sure CCP is not one. Other than driver & software component updates, which you've done, that is generally, with rare exception, the extent of issues I've ever faced with fresh installs.
The DB permission error quoted above....could it have something to do with permissions? *blink*
Try running Eve with the administrator account. >THE< administrator account, not a user with admin privileges. There is a difference. What that is, I've never been arsed enough to find out. If it works/does not work, reinstall Eve. At some point MS moved "documents and settings" to "users". It could be vista. IDK, never tried vista. But, I'm assuming you upgraded from vista to windows 7 since all other older versions of windows require a fresh install of windows 7. But, assuming that change came with Windows 7, it could be that Eve client is looking for files in the wrong place which could very well be your problem since regular users don't have access to the now legacy "documents and settings" which is only there for compatibility. And of course this all comes back around to reinstalling the Eve client. ;) We want breast augmentations and sluttier clothing in the NeX! |

Another thing to try.
Right click on the icon for launching Eve. Go to Properties Click on the Compatibility tab Check the box that says 'run the program in compatibility mode' Choose Windows XP (service pack 3) as the compatibility mode privilege level is near the bottom Check Run this program as an administrator Hit OK Try running the icon again.
It i works great, if not, you have something 'wrong' with your computer and should probably back up a few steps.
If this was an updated OS your profile could be an issue. Creat a new user on the computer and try running Eve from that user.
Windows 7 SHOULD work fine with Eve, but Updating Windows OSs is never really a good idea if it can be avoided, it is usually better to start fresh. 01010100011011110010000001100110011010010111001001100101001000000111100101101111011101010111001000100000011101110110010101100001011100000110111101101110011100110010000001100001011101000010000001100010011011110111010001110011001000000111000001110010011001010111001101110011001000000100011000110110 |

To explain UAC:
It's a security feature. what it does is, if you're an admin, it has you run as a regular unprivileged account. This stops(kinda) malicious programs that you run (by accident, of course ), from being able to mess with all your settings, and screwing your machine up completely. Running as administrator is, generally, a bad idea. It's just asking for trouble.
The downside is, programs have to be configured to request admin where they need it. Most new ones do.
You also have more limited privileges to things like the root of your drive. Again, to protect you from malicious software. Even people that know what they're doing can get hit by a drive by download, exploiting a 0-day hole in their browser.
If you're a regular user, you pretty much only have access to your own directory in [drive]:/users/
I should note, I'm running with UAC turned on, on windows 7 64bit and it's all working just fine. I'd echo the advice of 'never upgrade, clean install every time.' I've seen (in a professional capacity) the problems it can cause.
One quick question. Where did you install eve? The default location, or elsewhere? If elsewhere, try the default. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator and other 'useful' utilities. |

This might sound stupid but I had problems with folder permissions when I reinstalled Windows 7 after an upgrade. To solve it I ended up just renaming the computer this then reset all the permissions when I restarted the computer. The problem seems to come from partitions that were in place before the installation of 7.

Win7 pro; is very stable running 3 EVE clients, however that is with a clean install using a retail ver. In the past I have found that Windows can be a royal pain in the ass if go the upgrade route. I know its cheaper but the problems it can give the user can be more than its worth. I would recommend that if you have go the upgrade route that you do a clean install of the existing opperating system first add no other aplicationsat this stage, then run the upgrade then apply all updates that are relevent then reinstall your apps. good luck... |

Even if you get the upgrade version, you can do clean installs. One of the install options. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator and other 'useful' utilities. |
