With the majority of 0.0 being littered with these game killing portals, its is a time that something be done about them. It seems unlikely that CCP's plan was to allow the creation of networks that prevent gate travel entirely if that is what you desire.
My suggestion is to place Jump portals at star gates, or just slightly away. Make them immune to damage unless the POS they are anchored to are in reinforced. This way you can still have your supper highways, but without the Jita like safety in 0.0.

TRI camped the jump bridges with nanos. Got almost as many idiots in badgers as you guys get on the Oijanen gate. Nanos is the I-win button of this age. Btw, they also used the other I-win button and destroyed one of the jump bridges with 3 motherships. Feel free to camp BWF for all I care you are simply weeding out the idiots who doesent read intel, but I think you would get more targets if you either upgraded to wyverns or started camping more npc sovs. |

idiots? its not our fault you guys dont have someone who can jump into webification batteries and a disruptor. stop crying, this isnt about roadkil getting killed in their own space, this is about jump bridges making 0.0 space even less entertaining |

make em have to be anchored at a moon or a planet without pos/station nearby.. actually,,, having them a minimum of 50km off a station would be fair... attackers can still attack, and defenders can still set traps and undock...

At the moment it's unlikely somebody can die by using those, removing the purpose of stargates and risk from 0.0 travel. I think that moving them 250km off the POS shields would be enough, that doesn't leave jump bridges in the middle of nothing while offering an opportunity for the attacking side. |

anything wihtout pos gun support makes me happy... other than that... just get rid of em.. or make it like 20 mill per ship per jump... something stupidly expensive... where only exetreme emergencies would make it usefull |

oh my god, cry us a ******* river. what a terrible shame people have a way around you perma-camping in cloaking damp ravens and running away every time someone brings a fight to you.
if you wanna work for you ganks, you could try to camp the brid... ah, wait, then there's the slightest chance someone might man a gun and start shooting at you. never mind

I agree with the op -- starbase jump bridges are far too common, and far too cheap to use in terms of liquid ozone.
Instant travel such as these jump bridges is killing the game -- non-consensual solo/small group PvP has decreased dramatically, as well as industry in deep 0.0 Blobing with them is significantly easier, as well as capital swarms in cynosural jammed systems.
Although the op has an interesting solution, I prefer their fuel cost be increased dramatically so that their use is limited/sparingly in sovereignty level 3 systems.
Or perhaps restrict them to entirely sovreighty level 4 systems. And -- please -- remove their ability to be used in cynoblocked systems.

we let people camp bwf 23/7 because anyone with half a brain can get around the camps you put up or run through them. or, better yet, see that there are lazy gate-campers there and arrange alternate plans to avoid dealing with them. you find an easy way to get ganks, we find an easy way to avoid you.
hint: sometimes people leave systems with jump bridges via stargates. pvp is like sex. try moving around a little bit, and you'll get better results
This thread has nothing to do with you, and if you think we are not getting kills you are very wrong. In 2 weeks we have kill 750+ships with less than 10 people, but like I said this has nothing to do with you.
Travel anywhere in EvE needs to have risk in it, that is what EvE is about. I know you think that its about mining and shooting shuttles with 100man fleets but its not.
Small gangs needs to be viable in this game again, and the movement in 0.0 needs to be far less safe.

Yes.
The only thing worth keeping from this whole 'jumpbridge/cynojammer/blablabla' fiasco is the ability to get into a 500man local without going through a gate.

Thats not the point and you know it, we know just fine how to kill stuff at portals we have been doing it to you for the last 2 weeks. But you cant collect the loot, and you really cant hold the field unless you bring a blob to deal with the pos and defenders.
Travel in 0.0 needs to be dangerous not safe, and at the moment it is safer for say a freighter to move from deep 0.0 to high sec, than to autopilot in hi sec.

Are you implying that we are the thing that should be nerfed, instead of a POS structure? :)

If you don't like them, what exactly is stopping you from destroying them? Or camping the POSes they are deployed at?
I have a lot of respect for BURN EDEN, but the OP is nothing but a dull complaint steming from an unwillingness to change and adapt.

I'm implying that you are already working around their existance, sucessfully, but you would like that kills simply be delivered on a platter instead of having to show some work to get them.

They are already working around them, obviously they don't mean the complete non-existance of gate travel, some distances are too large and the have to touch down in sov systems, so there are plenty of 'gaps' BE already take advantage of these gaps, that people have to cross if they want to continue their logistical efforts. What they are unable to do is with half a dozen people mostly in battleships, is engage at a POS and not lose anything. Larger alliances can. So what they essentially want is a freebie, corps are paying 350mil/month for each bridge, which still doesnt' let them travel anywhere without going through some sort of vunerability be it gates, gap systems or stations, and they're still vunerable at the POS's themselves, if you're not someone that expects to be able to do it with cloaking BS's.
Quite clearly they aren't overpowered, since fine people such as Burn Eden manage to still get great kills against alliances with dozens of them, they would just like them to be auto-kill dispensers.

The defenders spent alot of time and isk setting up the POSes, maintaining the POSes, getting the right sov level, etc. Why shouldnt the defenders have the advantage?
BE has excellent tactics, but I see no reason those tactics should be expected to work in all situations. Some markets are different, change your business model.

I've seen bridges camped frequently either by nanoes or by cloakers (/me waves to op), poorly setup ones, well set up ones, ones where the pos had been shot up...
Put another way any bottle neck in a game is where you're most likely to get kills for the least amount of effort, that's the game design not the bridges fault but as is atm camping a jb means you need more effort which seems fair considering it's player petitioned. They also provide the home ground advantage, heck we were promised a tolling ability a year ago, they still haven't got a basic jump button nor have they yet got a set alliance use option (really, how hard would that one have been?).
Their placement however is basic cause and effect, the bridges themselves are destructible, quite easily once you've got numbers, they need some for of defence which leaving them exposed on their own would not provide, unless of course you were willing to give them a huge hp boost but i honestly believe no one enjoys shooting stationary structures in eve.
Why do we put so many bridges down? Well, probably because roughly 80-90% of 0.0 systems are crap, you can make more isk running lvl 4s in empire than you'll make in anything above -0.7 (that's ccp risk>reward model hard at work right there) and secondly it takes sooooo long to travel around eve, namely through those crappy quiet systems. Alot of the time eve is a chore not an enjoyable game, devs know this, 90% isk making, 7% looking for targets, 1% shooting and 2% going home to start again.
Ask yourself if those thing were changed would the bridges be the way they are?
Anyway they're an alliance tool that takes a month to deploy (and a freighter), other alliance can disable them with ease and campable like any other gate (seeing as it took them a month of work the increase difficulty seems fair). What you're searching for is a way to lock them down easily with lower numbers which, if they were easier to deploy then yes, i would agree with you but the gain is balanced with the effort atm.
Incidentally idk where you pulled jita like safety from. 1. jita is the least safe place in eve 2. anyone with the pwrd and quick ship can hop through and run (yay no alliance standings option again) 3. If the other end is red, the first thing you're asking ppl is if the other end is safe. By and large, as you've done, ppl assume jbs are totaly safe and thus, get ganked by hit and runs repeatedly (/campers). ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
