Edited by: Rauxes on 04/05/2008 07:41:46 Edited by: Rauxes on 04/05/2008 07:40:53 I was just wondering if battlecruisers were any good to specialize in for cheap solo pvp and fleet ops. I really don't have too much time to grind isk but I could lose a t2 fitted BC without flinching too much, along with relatively cheap bpos(I like flying what I build). Are they worth the effort to train up for pvp related things? Do they fill a decent role in fleet/gang ops? Reasons and such in replies would be appreciated, as well as any other thoughts you have on them. Thanks in advance to any relevant and helpful posts. They are appreciated! |

Edited by: lyrenna on 04/05/2008 10:02:20 tier 2 ones are great, has realy nice cost/eff ratio, they also can tank sentrys for some time alone and endlessly in a gang. yeah they can realty work.
harbinger, drake, cane are awesome, well myrmidon is great but sentrys dont like drones and yeah they can used as anti support etc role in fleet.
edit: dont forget mighty brutix it can easly turn to a mini mega |

Bleh, I'm scared to go into low sec with slow aligning ships like BCs or whatever, because more and more Hictor gatecamps are appearing. My suggestion would be to specialize in T2 cruisers and nano them up. Solo PvP in slow, non-cloaking ships = you're dead. And in 6 months low sec will be swarming with Hictors. Guess what's on my skill plan? Yep, Devoter.

it wasn't already swarming?
you are going to want to scout a bit so you don't jump into gate camps, **** a hic gatecamp, in a bc you are going to die to really any gatecamp. ganking haulers/cruisers on gates should go fine, and in the belts pretty much anything is fair game... if its a bs in a belt go for it
or go blind if thats more fun
oh and nano cruisers dont tank gate guns so well

Who gatecamps in a nano cruiser?
I was saying for solo PvP anything slow and non-cloaking is out of the question because I feel far too vulnerable jumping through a gate, and if a gate camp's there, I'm dead. I never scout.

Wait, what? The only thing a Hictor brings to the table in lowsec is the ability to overcome multiple WCS. On the assumption you're not fitting stabs to your battlecruiser, a Hictor is no more of a threat than any other ship with a point and comparable scan resolution - so any cruisers really (T1 or T2). Even BCs will probably be able to get a point on you before you warp, especially with a sensor booster. Perhaps you're thinking that hictors can use their bubble effect in lowsec? If so then be assured that they can't, and that's just a graphical glitch; they have to lock you just like every other ship.
But the hictor point aside, gatecamps are a problem for heavy roaming solo ships. You'd probably have a reasonable chance of getting back to the gate with a MWD and plate, but I certainly wouldn't expect it to save you every time. That said, gatecamps exist because they do work (as well they should); if you're not in the luxurious position of being able to pay little attention to them (i.e. in a nano ship or a cloaker), then you have to avoid them using map, scouts and intel just like everyone else.

I'm talking about sensor boosted Hictors locking in less than a second. No, I don't fly around with WCSs'.
I guess I mentioned being scared of Hictors because I flew a Harbinger through 3 Hictor gatecamps in short order. If I had been plated I would've lost it. But yeah, flying into any competent gatecamp with a slow ship like a BC means you're dead.

Where are all these low-sec gate camps people keep talking about? Cause I almost never run into gate camps in low-sec.

Edited by: Kingwood on 07/05/2008 15:49:03 Try Evati area, Metropolis. Or Rancer, I hear that's a nice system to fly a shuttle through with a 500mil BPC in the cargohold.
