You are 8 years old. Friends just started playing EVE.
You all meet in a station in the medical bay.
You attach diodes to your brains.
The old character transfers any amount of skill points into a pool of their choosing.
The young characters can grab any amount of skill points from the pool to a maximum whatever works out to a year or constant skilling. It will also have to be balanced for training time.
You lose 2 years of skills while they gain 1 each (roughly) wherever they want. Like the skillpoints we received for Learning skills.
OPTIONAL : Only allow skill transfer @ 2 year > x > 1 year of young character age [Less creating of alts and sell them or whatever people do.]
OPTIONAL : Separate pools for Training Time multipliers. They have to match.
OPTIONAL : You can only give if you are older than 5 years old. |

I usually disagree with this being the advice given to someone posting on the forums, but in this case, I'll make an exception, since it really is the best answer. |

Gawd... I'm ALMOST wishing for a "nerf suicide ganking" thread right now. This monotonous wave of "SP" related ideas is starting to REALLY annoy me [more than usual]. "Just because I seem like an idiot, doesn't mean I am one." ~Unknown |

Why does everyone hate this idea so much? I don't see anything gamebreaking about it.
I am not supporting it, but I am not going to troll it either. Personally, it would be nice to be able to give friends a hand when they are starting out. It would also give the better veterans something to lose when they have a major surplus of skillpoints. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

Scenario 1 Step 1: Make alt. Step 2: Transfer SP to alt Step 3: Insta-train alt to the newest FOTM and/or capital holder (or at least get a head start). Result: You now have an alt character instantly ready to go.
Scenario 2 Step 1: Make new "main character." Step 2: Transfer SP to new "main character." Step 3: Train new "main character" to do whatever it is you want/need. Step 4: Sell "old main character." Result: Changing your "identity" is now easier than it currently is and has far less repercussions (i.e. you don't have to re-train "everything").
On the principle side of things... if "real" nubbins get a whole bunch of of SP, then sees how long it will take to ACTUALLY train other skills, they will STILL whine (possibly more than before) about how "slow" things take. Overall, this idea does nothing to "help" nubbins get over the mental hurdle of the "real-time" skill system. Anything that gives "instant gratification" only hurts people in the long run. I think there are better ways to solve the problem of the ridiculously long training time involved for a new pilot to be able to get into anything worthwhile and fun. A solution that solves the problem for everyone rather than just those that have a generous friend who's been playing for years would be better...

(What those solutions would be are topics for other threads, although I hear CCP will be buffing T1 ships, which would certainly help...) The "solution" is to get newbies into groups like Eve uni or RvB. (Preferably RvB)
Then they might learn that flying an assault frigate with semi decent skills is preferable to flying a T1 fitted battleship. The issues with low SP pilots not getting into anything worthwhile or fun is that low SP pilots often get told, incorrectly, that they need the biggest baddest ship in the game to be viable. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

I'll be helpful here and tell you how to do it right.
1)You meet you friend in a hangar.
2)You give him 10b ISK
3)He buys a character.
Everyone's happy and the game mechanics aren't any more broken than they already are.

I think a nice solution (but the vets would hate it) is that when you start a character, you are given a choice on what you want to become. say options like mining, industry, PVE, PVP, things like that. then based on your race and that choice, it give you maybe 200-500k SP based on your skills, so PVE it would give you gunnery, some tanking, maybe get you into a high level frigate . PVP it would give you similar skills to PVE but would give you a little less in trade for some more PVP based things like webs and scrams. mining, it gets you into either a mining frigate with high mining skills or into a low level mining cruiser with low level mining skills. and industry it would give you some construction skills and the such to start working there. I'm sure there would be some other areas that they could add, but you get the basic idea. |

So, uhh, you want the NPE to go back to how it was when I was new?
I wouldn't say no. You used to wtart with what, 500k+ SP? (I can't remember exactly) in skills you picked almost at random off of a big list, based on what your bloodlines/professions etc were. It wasn't exactly very friendly to new players. |

I wouldn't be entirely against that, but as Danika pointed out for a genuinely new player it'd probably be quite confusing. They;d end up either picking stupid skills or just following some character creation guide, both of which kind of defeat the point
You could fix that by oversimplifying it, and just creating indie/trade/combat skill sets. But then that fixes a new character into what they can do when they start the game, and means they'd probably just start a new character if they change their mind.
Not to mention the obvious issue of it allowing us older players to create thrasher ganking alts even faster. -áhttp://i.imgur.com/aWNfM.jpg |

There is a huge difference between reallocating your SP that you obtained (which I partially support under certain circumstances) and trading, buying, selling or giving SP to another character.
This is a very bad idea. You are a very bad person. You should feel bad. EvE is not about PvP.-á EvE is about the SANDBOX! - CCP!-á Open the door!!! |
