just been trying to find good setup 4 a brutix so i can defend my mate while he mines just for a change from missions
i have come up with this after looking at a few setups
7x rails
1x ab (will put a mwd soon when i get skills done) 1x ECM 1x web 1x med cap boost (800 charge)
3x adaptive nano membrane 1x damage control II 1x mar
now i know that t2's would be good but skils arent high enough yet
any ideas how to improve this. i only loking to have this for every now and again to get a break from missions
cheers

-ECM, +scram
-rails, -AB, +mwd, +blasters
if you want to rig it, then go with aux nano pumps (and 1 nanobot accelerator) for active tank, or trimarks for more buffer
Also consider dropping tank for damage mods maybe __________________________________

Fitting rigs to a Brutix will make it very very expensive especially the Armour rigs as they are each around 15 - 20 mill. So think about whether you really need them before you go down that route.
I have max skill in BC and use tech II guns so adding rigs for me is almost mandatory, but I don't do it for all my ships. BS, Command, Faction and HAS are the types of ships that i put rigs onto so just work out whther you can afford to do that.
They do really add a lot of benefit to your ship especially if you have maxed BC skill to lvl 5 (it's worth having and you need it for Command ships anyway).
Anyway, here is setup that you could consider:
High 7 x Dual 150 II (spike)
Med AB II, Cap Booster II (800), web, Scram (Note if you're in low sec then you can drop AB II for MWD)
Low 2 x Med Repper II, 2 x EANM II, DCUII
Grid 2 x Aux Nano pump, 1 x something else possibly trimark or grid rig if you want to fit 7 x 200s)
Drones 5 x Medium ECM (or better to go with a mixture of drones including combat)
The Brutix is a deadly ship if you have good skills and even with the Dula 150s these allow greater fitting flexibility if you need to cram in an MWD or 200 II guns, or an 800 tungsten plate. The dual med reppers is really a must if you're solo, but in a small gang then you can drop a repper and fit a MFS II.
Experiment with different setups to see what fits with your skills and you shuold be fine.
Enjoy.

U have 4 slots, all of them are already taken in this setup and cannot be changed. Web, cap, MWD, point (im frankly amased you threw this out). Where are u gonna fit ECM? Besides on non specialised ship it will do little good. Drones will do better if u want ecm so much. P.S. For gank setups use ECM drones, with dual reppers id rather use dps drones. Just my 2isk. Its urs Brutix that will explode in the end

-blasters +rails tbh. Slightly less DPS, more hitting things further than 5km away.
@ OP, drop that third EANM as its giving precisely sweet FA to your tank (57.5% of 20% isn't very much....the DCU gives more and isn't stacking nerfed.) Switch it for either another rep (if you can fit it) or a damage mod.

Tell your mate that currently there is no reason to mine in low-sec over high-sec unless he is gunning for Hedbergite . Veldspar is only about 10% less profitable on a volume basis than Hedbergite, saves you the risk of getting blown to cr@p, and you don't have the danger associated with trying to haul it back to High-sec to sell. Oh, and Hedbergite is alot harder to find than Veldspar too.
Once it is valuable to mine in low-sec again, then you should happily hop into your Brutix and protect your buddy, though a Blackbird or Scorpion arguable serve the purpose better if your only goal is survival. --

First time pvping is probably best done in cheap frigates or maybe even cruisers (incursus, thorax and vexor are all nice), if you can afford to lose it and replace it a good few times I'd go with one of these.
Trying out pvp whilst protecting your bud will just end up with you and him killed, sounds harsh, and it is.
