Nearly every story in Ambulation deals with the average person in Eve's society, rather then Pod Pilots. What I'd like to know is how far will this go into Ambulation? Will we be able to have a pet Slaver follow us around like in the latest story, will we be able to slip into Powered Armor like in one of the latest news posts?
How connected to the story side of Eve will Ambulation be? |

my guess is not alot :( but that really upsets me as i think eve should be more story based dynamic
plague hits station : price of medical supplies goes up
caldari state academy nuked in minmitar raid : regional ship prices rise
just like frontier elite :)
ccp could make the universe more living then it is and let US interact with the breaking stories |

Chances are it won't be connected much. Which is a shame, an event we can't control adds much needed upheaval, panic and excitement to EVE. Remember when shuttles were taken no longer on NPC sell orders?
Mass hysterics for a while, until the price balanced out. That was fun. People got involved, and they got angry.
I'd like a pet slaver hound, just out of principle. But having Fedos and such like elements of the EVE Backstory would make it a lot more involved. And you'd feel as if the news you were reading on the front page was news about the EVE universe, and not just another brief chronicle that has a fleeting link to it.
What gets me about EVE, is its generally about existing and thats about it.
Which is fine in a way. I recently suggested we add an easier consensual PVP method in EVE so people in high sec can have a blast without getting screwed over by some pretentious assbag and his faction fit buddies. Naturally this idea was shot in the face like a crippled horse because it was different, and offered a similar pvp experience for those damn annoying carebears we all apparently hate so much.
I know EVE is OMGHARDCORE but for christs' sake, we can't live in high security space and not have any form of entertainment except killing pirates and staring at strip miner beams.
I'm hoping Ambulation remedies this with a few things that can make the game fun and engaging for the players in high and low sec, and not just ride on the "go to low sec.. you get blown up more there, you can shoot anyone.. and the ore is good!"
Be it more combat tournaments, poker games in the stations, whatever. I just hope it adds more to the game and doesn't leave us.. still.. killing each other, baiting each other and generally acting like cavemen in space.

I agree with the proposition that there should be a whole extra bunch of "lifestyle" add-ons in stations after ambulation. I agree that EvE at the moment is aimed generally at the nullsec population who have the skills, buddies, isk and inclination to spend their time fighting eachother and ganking "carebears".
It would be good to be able to dock at a station, walk around the place, and get a real feel for the atmosphere in the station. At the moment, you can dock at a station in 0.1 sec and the atmosphere is identical to a station in a 1.0 trade hub.

People will know I have docked when a roiling sea of softly singing Fedo wash down the corridors towards the bar, advertising my arrival.

I so thought this was going to be a question about the sexual antics of our avatars.

I think Ambulation will just be about people walking around, at first. Given how detailed EvE developers like to be in many, many areas of the game it wont surprise me to eventually see things like Slaver hounds being purchasable, powered armor to be useful in construction tasks, and so forth.

Isn't this what factional warfare should bring?
Apart from that, yeah a closer connection to the Eve Background story would be definitly welcome. ----- Garr Anders
