First of all, sorry for my lack of english sometimes. I've been thinking recently about a new ship type. Heavy sniper cruisers ( t2 ) able to fit a few Large guns and getting a range bonus on them would be pretty nice for fleet / artillery support. However, every t1 cruiser design allready has a t2 variant and would be getting a bit boring to make anather one from them. So, adding a new t1 cruiser and making a t2 variant of it would help that flaw.
Here are some thoughts names for the shiptypes. First of all, the new t1 cruisers.I've just thought up some easy names but about better names can be discussed about if this idea will be taking to a higher lvl. + i haven't thought of any ship history or anything like that yet.
Amarr: Bull
Bonus's: 10 % to energy turret optimal range per lvl and 5 % to energy turret damage per lvl. Got great range and damage but has a poor capicitor for tank. Slot Layout: 4 high's - 2 meds - 6 lows 4 turret hardpoints 850 base grid and 310 cpu
Minmatar:
Bonus's: 10 % to projectile turret optimal range and 7.5 % bonus to projectile turret tracking speed per lvl. Tracking and range are great but balanced by less dmg and rof. Slot Layout: 5 highs - 3 meds - 4 lows 4 turrets and 1 launcher slot. 825 base grid and 350 cpu.
Caldari:
Bonus's: 5 % to shield ressistance per lvl and 7.5 % to hybride turret tracking speed. Good tank with very nice tracking turrets. Slot Layout: 5 Highs - 5 meds - 2 lows 5 turret points 835 grid and 375 cpu
Gallente:
Bonus's: 10 % to hybride turret optimal range and 5 % to hybride turret damage per lvl. good range with decent dmg. Slot layout: 4 highs - 4 meds - 4 lows 4 turrets 750 grid and 335 cpu
Now the t2 sniper variants. They are similiar to the stealth bombers but without claok. Thier ressistance on shields and armor will be same as the force recon ships ressists.
Ammar: Ravener
ammar cruiser bonus: 10 % to Large turret optimal range per lvl and 5 % to Large energy turret dmg per lvl.
Heavy sniper ship ( HSS ) 10 % to Large energy turret optimal range per lvl and 5 % to sensor booster effectivness per lvl.
Role bonus: 50 % to L energy turret Damage and 90 % reduction in L energy turret grid need.
Ship stats: 3 High slots - 4 meds - 4 lows 3 turret hardpoints 950 base grid and 300 cpu.
Minmatar:
minmatar cruiser bonus: 10 % to L projectile turret optimal range per lvl and 7.5 % to L projectile tracking speed per lvl.
HSS bonus: 10 % to L projectile opt range and 5 % to sensor booster effectiveness per lvl.
Role: 50 % to L projectile dmg and 90 % reduction in L projectile grid need.
Ship stats: 3 high slots - 5 meds - 3 lows 3 turret points 925 base grid and 320 cpu
Caldari: Shark
Cald cruiser bonus: 10 % to L hybride turret optimal range and 5 % to sensor booster effectivness per lvl.
HSS: 10 % to L hybride opt range and 5 % to L hybride dmg per lvl
Role: 50 % to L hybride turret dmg and 90 % reduction in hybride turret grid need.
Stats: 3 highs - 6 meds - 2 lows 3 turrets 850 base grid and 355 cpu.
Gallente:
Gall cruiser bonus: 10 % to L hybride optimal range and 5 % to L hybride dmg per lvl.
HSS: 10 % to L hybride opt range and 5 % to sensor booster eff per lvl.
Role: 50 % to L hybride dmg and 90 % reduction in L hybride grid need.
Stats: 3 Highs - 3 meds - 5 lows 3 turrets 800 base grid and 310 cpu.
Skills need: cruiser V gunnery V sharpshooter V AWU 4 Surgical strike 4 weapon ups V Engineering V Long Range targeting V
There is a small problem tough. The muninn and eagle will be getting 'bad' becuase these ships will do the job better. just try and get some nice names for them aswell becuase i couldn't get any nice ones I'm not sure about the ship grid and cpu aswell and i'd like to hear as many feedback about this and the new shiptype idea.

what if someone found out a way to nano one of these and take it's super good damage and be nearly invincible.
Also what about the maximum range limit that there is, most ships can reach past 250km optimal but the max range will stop them.
So for this to work best these might need to be BSs so they are a lot harder to nano and the max range limit will need to disappear

Well, those bonus's on the L turrets are for Artillery's, railguns and beam lasers so not for the close range variants. Those L guns barrely track if your nano'd and im thinking of keeping the base velocity of the HSS's pretty low. + theres a nano nerf comming soon aswell. CCP should have a look at that limited range aswell so these guy's can shoot from the range they supposed to do.

Then we can also just delete the stealth bombers can't we? cuase there are also ravens with cruise launchers and also able to fit claoks...
These cruisers could do sniping from greater ranges then BS's if you haven't saw that allready.

Hardcap on range is 250km, most BS can reach that with some skills.
I'm in for this idea, but, since they would be too powerfull this should work with medium guns, medium guns should do. The bonusses are good, even for medium guns, but if needed beef em up.
AND most importantly, a negative effect to fitting a MWD or not being able to fit one at al so you will have to go with a AB, higher base speeds would be cool in that case, and now they also can't be nano'ed.
I would love this, becouse this means nano's have something to fear. Oh and yeah everything that is weaker than the strongest fast nano.... Yeah does need tweaking.

this game does NOT need bigger, stronger, more tanking or anything that has MORE of something... jeesus,
make more ships with Roles, no more gank/tank ships! whats the point of introducing a ship that just makes another one crap... (ex. tier 2 BC)
if you brought in these t2 snipe BS... what the hell is the point of our current rohks, apocs, ... mega.... and all too crappy artillery tempest and maels.
on a serious note, seeing as artys suck horridly, why not at least increase the damage mod on artys by 1.5 BUT increase the RoF by 1.5 ... at least this way minmatar can have their alpha strikes seeing as they track the worst, have the lowest optimal, and least damage.... sounds fair no? _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything. Well, if you mean BS's then your on the wrong place. It are t2 cruisers, not battleships. These have the role to snipe from a great range with decent damage.
And medium guns might work aswell'. With these currunt bonus's they could get a nasty range aswell.
