I just started the LVL2 mission 'intercept the saboteurs'. I deployed my drones, targeted the three ships at the start gate and just started to engage the first ship when I lost connection. This. Eve is built from the bottom up to assume connection as long as possible because of the high lag situtations that do occure in heavy combat, among minimizing network usage. By the time the server determined you were definately gone the drones would easily have killed the NPCs. _______________
