Notice that when Torps were changed to the close range DPS weapon for large missiles that they did NOT change the size of the "clip" (lack of a better word?) So now cruises are the long range missile that has more missiles per reload.
I got in a fight in my Torp Raven 1v1 with a Mega and was doing well but I had to reload waaay to early in the fight.
What does everyone else think about this?

Just for the record and those of us who don't use missile launchers, how big is the clip? By the way, I really wish there was a way to tell where a post ends and a signature starts. |

18 for Arbalest launchers.
PS. If these get a bigger capacity, Artillery had better damn well get a bigger capacity too! -----

I'm not convinced it's needed. Afterall, a Torp raven can sling somewhere around 1k dps out to 30+ km, all while having a fairly substantial buffer or half-assed active tank. On the other side of the coin, a blaster fitted gank ship can probably sc*****out another 100 or so DPS but it's forced to deliver it's damage at hull rubbing range - somewhere around or under 10km's.
It's a give and take - and if you consider the sheer destructive potential each reload worth of faction torps represents in your raven, you'll find it's quite staggering indeed - especially when you consider you can start delivering damage long before the mega can get into range (and if you put a MWD on you're raven like you're supposed to, it's very probable the mega will die before making it into HIS range). To propose a change that removes one of the tiny liabilities a Torp raven suffers from is patently unfair to other ships who sacrifice quite a bit to achieve a Raven's level of Tank/Gank.

To have something to go by.. Raven DPS w/o reloads: 948 Megathron DPS w/o reloads: 935
Raven DPS w/ reloads: 871 Megathron DPS w/ reloads: 909
Note however, this does not include drones, using 3 weapon upgrades and neutron blasters(which is very hard to fit on a mega). Of course there's a multitude of differences on top of that.

I like the clip size. It's about the right amount to come hooning out of my launchers before they burn out due to overheating. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Actually, they did cut the RoF to 75% of original (-25%). In order to maintain the same "time to reload" they should have also increased "clip size" by 33%. They forgot to do that.

Yeah, 20 torps with a < 6 second rof means you are have to reload in less than 2 minutes. It's not that bad as you'd probably kill most BS by the time you run out of your missiles. 10 max for howies is a little short too, as you'll probably still run out in less than 2 minutes. *shrug*

Anyone who thinks the torp Raven needs a DPS boost, which is a what a clip boost is, quite clearly needs their head examined.

Yeah I also agree that Arties need a larger "magazine" (thank you for the correction). But they are the long range weapon of minny so they should be lower then ACs still. I don't fly minny so how much of a mag size increase I do not know.
For people arguing the Raven doesn't need a DPS boost I agree. It doesn't NEED one. However, the time it takes to empty the "magazine" is too short. In ALL other races, the size of the "magazine" in the short range high DPS weapon is larger then the long range weapon. So if it gets a bit more DPS because of this then fine. It would not be operpowered still as a previous poster showed with some basic numbers.
But don't change Cruises to be smaller "mags" they already have poor DPS and are balanced for what they do.
I just think this part of the torp change was overlooked by the Devs and needs to be adressed.

I think there are some points that need to be addrssed here.
First of all, when I think of torps and PVP boats I think of the Raven - where the combination of a range bonus and a ROF bonus equals a fantastic amount of pain. Your standard torp raven can sling around 1k DPS of ANY type out to 30km as it is.
On the other side of terrible pain coin we have gallente ships - who can sling a bit more than 1k DPS out to about 9km and it's ONLY kinetic and thermal damage.
From a balance perspective, anything that moves the raven's slightly lower DPS into parity with a point blank gank ship is a move that approaches overpowering considering the raven can start a fight from 3x the distance it's damage dealing equivlanet can, all while fielding a sturdier tank to boot (unless you're trying to tackle in your Raven of course).

No, it's not fine. Not at all. A boost is a boost - doubling the ammo capacity on the Raven would amount to a 5% boost in effective damage output which is NOT a trivial amount.

Nerf Siege Launcher RoF? * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
