Ever run into a customer in lowsec that is just too stupid to let live? I know it's not good to dishonor a ransom, but this guy really had it coming. Posted here for the entertainment of all. As a side note, this particular customer's mouth cost him a T2 fitted mission raven.
Me > Greetings. 40 million isk to save your ship. Me > You have 30 seconds. Customer > why can't you asswipes just go to 0.0 Customer > I'm so sick of you*****sucking pussies ruining my game. Me > 15 seconds... Customer > I play to relax, not get harrassed by a bunch of prepubescent little ****s. Me > 5 seconds... Customer > there's your ******* isk, now go **** yourself Me > Pleasure doing business with you. Customer > Yeah, it'll be a pleasure when I have you bent over a table and extract my isk from you with a broomhandle.
At this point I decided that, rather than let him go, he needed to learn a lesson. So I popped his raven and sent him home on the pod express.
Customer > wtf did you do that for Customer > i paid you Me > I'm sorry. I decided that you were too dumb to live. Me > In the future, keep your mouth shut, pay up, and leave. Your ship will thank you. Customer > You didnt' have to pod me too. I had implants you stupid ****! Customer > you ******* pirates are all the same. no honor I'm just going to have to pay MC to hunt you and your corp down until you quit eve Customer > you're going to be sorry *******, you better just stay docked up forever cuz your a dead man Me > Let me know how that works out for you.
At this point I put him on ignore and continued my activities for the day. I've never been threatened by having someone hire a dead alliance before. My corpies and I got a good chuckle out of it.

You still are the bigger arse here though TS. Not honoring a ransom is low, and it's bad for your business.

I agree with you, pretty much. I'm not sure if I would have kept the money or not. On one hand, I don't need his pathetic 40 mil. On the other hand, he did subject you to his ******* bull**** so a small fee is not unwarranted. I probably would've sent the ISK back just to avoid being the center of a C&P whine post by him, since you posted it yourself I guess you don't have to worry.

I wonder how many posters like this would consider it if the situation was reversed?
Was there a fight invlolved before you ransomed him? I myself would have a few choice words for someone who made my playing experience more costly. Maybe not in the vulgar manner that your victim did but it really would not cost you anything now would it?
So I put to you sir why dont you take your advice and keep your mouth shut, take your money and leave since the only one who lost was your victim. It's just words of frustration after all.

You were polite, professional, and offered him a very reasonable ransom. This guy's going to have a very tough time surviving in Eve with that attitude.

Yeah, methinks best form might have been to refund the ransom, if only to make him see what his smack really cost him and how cheaply he could have gotten off for being dumb, rather than just thinking that pies are dishonorable, but excusable I guess under the circumstances.
As far as the victim's smack being legitimate stress release, I think not. OP said lowsec - 'nuff said, I think. The Raven pilot thought he had imaginary rights to "relax" in lowsec, 40 mil would have been a cheap education on that matter. Hopefully he's learned that lesson and can go on to learning the benefits of being civil to one's teachers - some of my best friends in game are those people who taught me costly lessons like this amazing what a bit of, "lol good fight dammit," can do.

Don't really care about the ransom thing, because I never ransom people, but its not about having a thick skin... Its about the victim reacting in a way that clearly shows he hasn't accepted a golden rule of EvE: Never undock if you aren't prepared to loose your ship.
The OP clearly demonstrated this fascinating aspect of the game for the man, and helped him on his path to greater enjoyment. And if we then look at only the ransom part, would you give back 40 million to someone acting like that? I wouldn't, no matter how they ended up with me. ----- In EVE - never bring a knife to a knife-fight. |

The Raven pilot got what he deserved imo. 40 millions for a t2 fitted pve battleship is very reasonable and from what i can read the op didnt smack his victim.

Definatly deserved to lose his isk as well as his ship. You shouldn't feel bad at all for not honoring that ransom. Griefing people like that is a civic duty for Eve players.

Not Honoring a ransom is low, but not honoring a ransom because the guy gives you **** isn't low, they need to be tought that this is a game and piracy is apart of the game. They need to know that you can be blown up at any second during your time "out" of the station.
I'm going to refer to "real" pirates, do you actually think that once they grapple onto another ship an board it to ransom, that once the victims ship gives over the gold/supplies/clothes/food to free his ship, that the captain is going to let the victim off lightly if he is giving him a ton of abuse?
Simple answer is NO.. they will exit the ship and proceed to blown it to davey jones locker.. Or simple just massacre the rest of the crew an take everything they find on the ship.
And now to defend myself to the babies who cry that you shouldn't put EVE to RL stories.. Well **** you, because although EVE is a game.. You call PvP'ers who PvP to earn isk
PIRATES!!!
And a pirate is a RL term..
Quote: A sea-robber, or an armed ship that roams the seas without any legal commission, and seizes or plunders any vessel she meets indiscriminately, whether friend or foe.
So before anybody decides to say stop using RL terms, how about people stop using the term pirates for people who PvP for isk in EVE??
To the OP.. I totally agree and accept what you did to that guy, he deserved EVERY bit that came to him. Maybe now he will learn from what he did

What gets me is that some of the posters replying to this post believe that doing something this low as not honoring a ransom has to be done to "teach" something. What a crock!
Now while I do not approve of your victims behavior I still have to say that two wrongs don't make a right. And that goes both ways. I don't believe that ransoming ruins the game for everyone but not honoring your word certainly makes for alot of doubt on whether the ransomer will honor the deal.
What would have gone a long way is if you would have warned him about what his abusive language will cost him. Maybe start upping the ransom price and such. As it is in your dialogue you gave no such warning. This makes it hard for ransoming as a business.

Hard to decide what to do in such a situation ... I'd probably fulfill my side of the deal and let him go, and I'd hate myself for it but that's part of the job
What you could do though to collect the ransom AND be true to your word AND save your ego by blowing the smacktard out of the sky is this:
you> "Greetings. To save your ship, be a nice guy and give me 40 million isk." customer> "You *****! F**** *****! ******! Okay here's your 40 million, you ***** ********!!"
*KABOOM*
customer> "WTF?!?!?! YOU ******* I PAID WHY DO U ***** BLOW UP MY ******* SHIP?????" you> "I'm Sorry, but which part of 'be a nice guy' did you not understand? Thanks for the donation, and have a nice day!"
