Edited by: Gorek Loc on 14/05/2008 15:19:59 I have had a rather unfortunate runs of inventions lately, so I asked my corp-mates why. They had experienced the exact same thing. Invention-success going from approx. 2/3 to almost 1/3. This started happening about early last week.
Anyone else experiencing the same runs of misfortune or did CCP sneak in a stealthed nerf-patch ? I wouldn't mind it, but I'd like to know, since my selling-profits come partly from the success-rate of my inventions.

from one inventor char I got 7/10 success on jobs rated to have a success chance of 24% (Apoc -> Paladins) from another inventor I got 0/10 success on jobs rated to have a success chance of 35%
nothing special to notice, invention is as usual, after some hundreds of attempts the stats tend to the calculated probability

Base invention chance for modules (the highest) is 40%. So you were very lucky, now your slightly unlucky.
NOTHING has changed.
If CCP really nerfed invention one out of every 50 threads we see like this it would be at 0% already.

Edited by: Gorek Loc on 14/05/2008 18:32:45 I didn't mean chance-based variantions... I do about 250-300 inventions-attempts per week. These last 1-2 weeks, my success has dropped drastically.
From that many attempts, I'd expect an average at approx. the same chance, give or take 10%, not 30-35%.

Same answer as always. Nothing has changed. You don't notice when you beat the average, but you do notice when you don't. And 250-300 attempts is a small sample size, try 100000.

Thanks for an honest answer, though I have to admit that picture made me laugh
I just needed some input on whether others had experinced the same, you most simply didn't... I'll be righ back on trak, to continue inventing!

Actually thats not quite true. 300 attempts on the exact same job is a good base for a fairly accurate avarage. You wouldnt (statisticly) gain much more precision by using a 100000 sample size.

You need about 1500 to be within 1%.
I'm not believing that everyone is accurately recording their data before coming to the forums though, they conveniently 'forget' that time they got 9/10 and record all the 2/10's.

I have been doing invention, literally hundreds of jobs so far, using my Industrial ALT.
I am concentrating exclusively on Inventing T2 Gallente ships. Every other week I run 11 Invention jobs, and I always, always, receive at minimum 5 - 6 BPC copies with multiple runs each. Thats over 50% Success rate. I do not use "meta" items, just your basic run of the mill vanilla Invention.
I do not use "Super" decryptors, I just use the ones I harvest myself, and buy the midrange ones when I need them. This has been an extremely profitable string for me.
One thing I must tell all those people who do invention: DO NOT RUSH INTO PRODUCTION, this is where you actually run into trouble. Market fluctuates quite frequently, you need to know when to "hold" the BPCs, and wait till the market improves.
If you just going to rush into producing everything you have invented this week, without doing any sensible research, chances are you will lose ISK, because you will overpay for the moon materials, or you will be faced with adverse market conditions for the end product.
I have had one "bad" streak, where I got only 4 BPCs with 1 Run each, other than that it has been real nice.

Can't you track all previous invention/factory jobs with the API now? Someone should make a project to compile all of this data. Does the API track character skill history?
