Basically someone installed Worms on the Nyx and the Admiral was about to the a Kamikaze attack to knock 2-3 of his enemies worms into the drink. Of course since the game had a command called Kamikaze and the ship had one as well they crossed over in some weird kind of software bug.
It is also reported that after the crash the damaged station was quoted to have said "Oi nutter!"

Yes, and I suspect in the coming weeks we're going to do more than just write an angry letter to our local representative, Mr Gallente

Dear Mr CEO Guy
Those Gallente tagnuts like suicide ganked your station! I mean like thats totally not cool. I think we should go blob them and that you should raise this policy in your next board meeting.

You should all go and look up Alexander Noir in-game.

Somehow, I'm betting that the in-game "Alexander Noir" who attends the Republic school is most probably say, named after the Admiral? After all the Admiral is supposed to be some 160 years old, and in a universe with hundreds of billions of people the same surname and given name can't be all that uncommon. ***** Rule 27: 'Don't be afraid to be the first to resort to violence.' -The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates [schlockmercenary.com] |

If it wasn't a Pod ship, surely that ship would have had loads of different command chains to make the thing move, let alone drive into a station.
Had to be faked, unless every person on that ship in any sort of command post wanted to die.

SOMEBODY isn't reading the backstory or RP news items. I refer you to THIS article, wherein it says:
Quote: A member of the Navy ever since, he became a capsuleer some time after the war. His adoption of capsuleer technology also gives him the unique honor of being the cluster's oldest living capsuleer.
As I'm sure you are aware, "Capsuleer" = "Pod Pilot". Admiral Noir is INDEED a pod pilot, and does indeed have a clone.

The Enheduanni did the same thing in Theodicy, were a Gallente Senator, that was unaware of the fact he is a sleeper agent, caused a situation that could have let to a war between Federation and Amarr Empire, were the Amarr not beaten at Vak'Atioth and had the Minmatar not rebelled.
The Enheduanni are a figment of your imagination.
Good, I'd be abit worried the day EVE publicly would introduce them since it'd be a case of 'oh look we now have people to deal with that make the jove look like cavemen and use like nothing'.

600 is way too small since an apoc has over ten times that many people.

I stand berated, I appear to have missed some fiction in the short stories section Correcting that deficiency now....
Originally by: marrud The navy doesn't use pods, their ships are crewed... IIRC anyway Maarud. ugh
And I'm 99% sure that the navies use pod ships as well as crewed ships; remember that the Caldari Navy were the very first ones to get their hands on pod technology from the Jovians, which helped turn the Caldari-Gallente war. It would seem rather silly if they didn't continue to use the tech, and be thus at a disadvantages to rival fleets that did use the tech (which is obviously wide-spread now).
Again, para-phrasing from the reading on teh live dev-blog, the Nyx had a crew of around 600, and the pilot in the Taranis who was the current POV, clearly stated that he was a pod-pilot emplyed by teh gallente federation, as were his wingmen.
This to me, indicates that the Admiral was most likely a pod-pilot as well, and thus my original post.
I was told carriers have 20000 crewmembers already :(
:S
So actually, I'm wondering, did this admiral kill more caldari or more gallente by blowing up his mothership with, eh, w/e, let's say 50000 crewmembers.

In response to different people Im too lazy to quote.. I did some research for my corp boards today and this is a copy/paste of the history of Alexander Noir. Everything fits into place if you think about it... A man with a mission to say the least.
Yeah, rumor has it admiral Alexander Noir acted on his own accord. He is one of the last surviving people to of been in the last Gallente-Caldari war, and has been on the front line securing peace and resolving border disputes between the two. He also recent won an award for those actions. (also of note, the news feed that info came from misspelled Nyx as "Nix" this coming from Eve-online heh)
His last words: "I have obligation to my beloved Federation to settle accounts with this hateful race, these cursed Caldarians. For my entire life, I have mourned for Hueromont, wishing, praying, willing for the day when I could strike back on behalf of those souls who perished. Fate has bestowed upon me this grand opportunity, this great day, to take vengeance for all those who gave their lives for the Federation, the true guardian of our precious Gallentean race . . . may you rest in peace now, brave souls of Hueromont, and you, kindred spirits of Nouvelle Rouvenor, knowing that I will take back what was stolen from you . . . Curse you, Caldari . . . may I take as many of you with me that I can!" Citation: http://www.battleclinic.com/eve_online/news.php, "Gallente-Caldari War: The early days" Page 1 paragraph 6.
He says this is revenge in part for Nouvelle Rouvenor, an Underwater Gallente City that the Caldari sabotaged, killing millions, the Gallente navy responded by Invading Caldari Prime, and total destruction of the planet from orbit. Citation: http://www.eve-online.com/background/potw/jul02.asp, "UPDATE: LOCAL BROADCAST AUDIO CONFIRMS NYX COLLISION WAS DELIBERATE", the quote
As for Hueromont, this was a case of a beaten Caldari admiral Yakiya Tovil-Toba, who in the early days of the war lead a task force directly against Gallente prime for almost a week. Destroy many ships. When he finally was down to his last carrier, he rammed into the planet as a last desperate attempt at damage. However, the debris hit the small village of Hueromont, killing thousands of innocent Gallente Citizens. That tragedy made Caldari admiral Yakiya Tovil-Toba a Caldari Hero, and taught to all young Caldarians, however is revered as a terrorist by the Gallentaens. Citation: http://www.eve-online.com/background/potw/aug01.asp Page 1, Paragraph 7, First sentence.
Quite some history.
Its also an interesting factoid that in the early days of the war, Caldari used one manned small fighters as an advantage, to gain the upper hand. Quite a big jump to the missile users of today's eve.
Its also going to be interesting to note that MorduÆs Legion, a mercenary corporation that is currently headed by higher-ups from the first war of the Caldari Navy may have something to respond to this attack. This will get very interesting.
