not sure if all you saw the screenies of the new expansion.
but it looks like the ships in the screenies when exploding they are like breaking apart and all. not just turning into a huge blue light or red one if npc.
will the ships actually be able to do that once dead and/or dying in the new expansion? --------------------------------------

As cool as that would look, I kind of hope NOT. Only because of all the extra rendering all the debris would cause. As it is you have to turn off all the cool effects in a large battle just to keep your machine from choking. Can you imagine if each destroyed ship left REALISTIC wreckage instead of the nice, compact little wreck balls we have now?
/me shudders at the thought of frying video cards.

I know my 3-way SLI 8800 Ultras can handle it. As it is now, Eve doesn't really tax it at all.

If EVE doesn't tax your system, you aren't running enough copies of the client :D.

EVE used to have a graphical effect where ships would be shown disintegrating in the explosion, but it was removed ages ago. Probably because it was shown to create lag of some kind. But basically, it's not out of the question that CCP could add a more advanced version of that back in, such as ships splitting apart while exploding.
But then again, they probably won't.

Well, I'm sorry to say that MOST of us can't afford that kind of rig. I have to make do with an Asus A8v Deluxe Mobo with an Athlon 64 3500+ and an Nvidia 7600GT AGP.
I have 2 kids, a mortgage, a car lease, credit cards, and a job that doesn't pay me nearly enough. I consider myself lucky just to be able to afford an MMO.

Well, if you live here in the US you should be getting "economically stimulated" soon so that will cover a PCI-Express motherboard and a decent video card. Just watch out for the wife. Mine kicked my ass when she found out that I dropped About 2k on three video cards. The ironic part is I bought them and an nForce 780i motherboard as an upgrade about a month before the 790i board came out and nVidia released their new GeForce 9 series cards...

I do live in the U.S. But my "stimulation" is going towards a new hot water tank and other household sundries. Sometimes home ownership is a real drag.
