I have an Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT and performance in Eve in great with one huge exception: when you get structure damage and the flames and smoke start. It completely lags up my machine to where I can barely do anything. It is definately graphics lag.
Can I turn off the flame/smoke effect?
Thanks

Same Problem here, i got an Q6600@3,2ghz and 6GB RAM + GF8800GT@ 730/1800/1010 (My RAM sucks i know)
drop from 130fps (8x FSAA+ 16xAF) to 10fps...
without any quality options it drops from 160fps to 30...
its still a huge drop!
a solution from CCP would be great...

It does not appear to be the flames. It is definately the smoke. I have tried performance settings on the graphics card. I have also played with the various settings in Eve, to no avail.
Any gurus with some advice? It is a big problem. If I hit structure and the smoke starts, there is no escape, no warping, no anything... just unworkable graphics lag and a blown ship :O |

Might be a good idea to write a bugreport about this issue. |

Edited by: Shekari on 13/06/2008 20:49:07 Best way to fix this is not take structure damage!
Kidding aside, I also have this issue ATI 3870.
Turning off all effects and turret effects does nothing btw.

Edited by: Myrkala on 15/06/2008 23:14:27 I am having the same problem, whenever I get structure damage my fps drops from 90 FPS to 7 FPS!
Turning off all effects does not affect the issue at all! The only thing that seems to work is to zoom out so the effect won't be rendered, but I still get a drop in FPS but its playable, very frustrating tho.
I am running a ATI x1950xt 512mb, and 2GB of ram in my machine.
edit:
I am running Trinty Premium content of course! "Ruppie ain't no puppie." |

I had the same problem and got rid of it.
Im afraid i cant give any technical details. Im an Nvidia 8800 user and while trying to make AA work through the use of nHancer (.com) the fire&smoke lag was gone, with all eve settings maxed out.
Disabling nHancer brings back the problem, so i thought you guys might wanna tryout a few settings for nHancer. My settings are:
Eve Online: Customized Profile
AA: 16x,TranspSS AACompat: 5 AACompatDX10: 0 AF: 8x VSync: App SLI: AFR [0x02400001] (predefined) Perf: HiQual Trilin+ AnisoFil+ AnisoSam+ MipMap:Tri OGLCompat: 0 HDR:On OGLMultiDispMode:Single
i wish you luck with this, remember, everything you do is at your own risk. And yes, even AA & HDR works with this settings (at least for me) on single monitor in fullscreen, but thats discussed in its own thread.
ah, and seriously... dont get shot into structure
