The only real question is what to put on the 8th hi slot.
A secondary question is what to put for drones...
Here is what I did--fit a cloaking device...
The tactic is to linger/suicide at a gate when the enemy gang warps in. After the gang warps off the gate to another gate, there are usually some straggler coming late. By then you have uncloaked, and if you are lucky you can snake a drake or raven that is coming late.
Use either warrior2 or ecm drones depending on if you need to kill a tackler/escape...
This works wonders on systems with 50-80 AU warp distance. By the time the target has called for help, their gang is in a two min warp to a gate, possible with hostiles, and they cant just turn around and warp back 60 AU to save a drake...

This is what i use an an alt.
7 MPII 1 Offline Remote rep
1 Web II 1 Disruptor II 1 100mn ABII
4 1600 RT plates 1 DCII 2 HSII 1 Coreli C type plate Ad Nano (Comp skills at 4)
5 Garde II (i have removed one Garde for 5 warrior II's in past)
3 Trimark pumps
With Large pulse spec 4, and overloading the guns its good for just over 1150 dps, (will falloff in practice its more likely closer to 1k dps)
But the Sentrys do give a rather nice Alpha and given the dps levels ships die fast, it takes time for those heavys to get from A to B - thats a lot of wasted time.
In terms of defence it takes over 130k EFT HP
In terms of cost, the whole lot will set you back about 60-65 mil in parts and the 55mil ish ship (insurable to a very small loss).
It dosn't do substained DPS, but it can gank away for 5 mins quite happily, and thats a lot of damage output at 1K a second, its enough to get a 1-1 kill under normal cicumstances.
When in gangs with a tackler get rid of that scram and web and fit a remote sensor booster and Cap booster for more substained DPS.
It really is a super little ship that punches well above its weight.

I believe it was Goumindong who said a geddon should never undock without 3 heat sinks and at least 2 1600 RT plates, and I agree:
2x 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Adaptive Nano Plating II Large Armor Repairer II 3x Heat Sink II
100MN MicroWarpdrive I Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Warp Disruptor II
7x Dual Heavy Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I, Amarr Navy Multifrequency L Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Ogre I x5
Heavy laser are awesome for gank, but really make it hard to fit the utility slot with rr, nos or neuts - if also fitting MWD.
For most fits, I go with the cheaper Dual Heavies and fit a cap booster, with a choice of rr, nos or neut in the utility (neut often best for roaming). Lately, in FW fleets, I have been dropping the point and fitting an ECCM, as we usually have many tacklers (and many targets a BS is too slow to point anyway!) and I'm seeing a LOT of jamming in mimtard fleets. Dropping the point also allows upgrading from ANP II to EANM II.
A final word on the geddon is that, if you want to go logistics, you can fit a variety of mediums rather than the traditional five heavies. I like 5x Hammerhead IIs, 5x Medium Armor Bots, 5x Warrior IIs. -- Meridius Dex --

Edited by: Aleus Stygian on 24/08/2008 15:20:43 I am surprised that heavy NOS and ECCM haven't been mentioned yet. Either way...
Heavy drones are a must, and some others, to deal with up-close and personal pesky shits like certain HACs and Dominixes. And a 1600 Tungsten really helps. You shouldn't slap on a second though, if you're not about sitting and really camping. Do not double up on the resists before you've mounted a Damage Control II. Make sure to have Hull Upgrades V to fit the T2 gear, of course, and go for as many heat sinks as you can bear. Putting on tracking enhancing gear is a nice complement, but don't expect your beams to be able to hit much of the smaller variety of ship anywhere closer than 20 km, no matter how much tracking you fit for.
And personally? I'd go the Harbinger way and fit a T2 heavy NOS in that last high slot.

Just curious,
Why doesn't anyone use target painters in their setup? Seems that one would really help you get better hits.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Because the thing has only three midslots, and MWD/ECCM/Point/Injector/Web/Sensor Booster are all many many many times more useful than a TP. __________________________________

Seriously, DHP's are awesome. For low sec when you need that rep, DHP are the way to go.

DHP have better tracking and take up less space so they have uses. DPS is not everything

Edited by: Cmndr Griff on 15/10/2008 19:45:13 Curious why webber drones were mentioned?
For BS or BC surely having heavy drones would help you get the kill faster, and cruiser sized surely you could track them unless nanoed, in which case they can run from the webber drones. I haven't ever used webber drones so I am curious as to when they would be useful.

I'm not much of a fan of 3 heatsink fits I find my self thinking that there is always a better alternative when u factor in the penalty. Also having alot of buffer with low resists is no good either, u have to balance the plates with resist mods. 7xmp fits are great for rr gangs but fitting them with a repper in the lows is difficult so when active tanking I go with DHP

Edited by: Rellana on 16/10/2008 06:33:09 On the drones, I use 4 ogres and 5 light ecm drones on my geddon,as the ECM drones really help in some cases, like if a inty has you tackled, deploy ecm drones and hope than jam the inty,so you can run like hell,as there's probably help incoming. Also I've seen some ratters use a cloak on a geddon,so they can hide, even though it doesn kill your locktime..

As a geddon pilot (and one w/o real gunnery skills).. here is what works best for me:
7x Mega Modulated Pulse Lasers 1x Large solace remote armor rep
1x Warp Disruptor II 1x Stasis Web II 1x Radar ECCM II
3x HS II 3x 1600 RT Plates 1x DC II 1x EANM II
3x Trimarks
12x Hammerhead I's
So.. yea.. about the drones.
They're good for sentry gun aggro management

simplest setup in the world, i killed a blaster-thron w/it.
HI: 7x Dual Heavy Pulse I (best named variant to save on cpu and pg) 7x Multifrequency L
Mid: 3x Heavy Cap Booster II [fill cargo hold w/as many extra charges as you can hold)(run one at a time only when needed, you can last quite a while if you work this right)
Low:
2x Lg Armor Rep II 1x EM Armor Hardner II 1x KIN Armor Hardner II 1x EX Armor Hardner II 1x THRM Armor Hardner II 1x EANM II
Rigs: best cap rigs
Drones: best heavy
works for me, was close w/the blasterthron, but it works, My wife has a Nos ability that puts a "Curse" to shame. |

Cap rigs on a PvP Geddon = FAIL.
You do not need to perma run in almost any PvP situation except solo on-gate camping (ill-advised in a Geddon anyway).
If your cap lasts 5-10 minutes you are good for 99% of situations. A 20 vs. 20 BS battle probably won't last longer than five minutes. If you're solo then you want your enemy dead in less than 3 minutes.
I do not believe in active armor tanks on any ship that does not have a repping bonus. The Geddon is made to buffer tank. Trimarks, DCU, plates and resists as high as you can get them. Then you need to focus on damage as this is the Geddon's ace in the hole.
Also, seriously question if/when the MWD will actually be useful. You want to fit your ships with modules you will need all the time, not "sometimes" mods that you may only use in 10% of the fights or when escaping a bad situation you put yourself into. Personally, I don't buy into the whole "an MWD may save you someday," nonesense- I don't fit my ship for "someday". Being prepared for everything leaves you chopping logs with a Swiss Army Knife. I'd rather chop logs with a ****ing chainsaw than maybe be able to fillet a fish someday.
