There is a player driven election that begins in a few hours for representation on the "Counsel of Stellar Management" (CSM).
I would like to extend an invitation for new players to familiarize themselves with an aspect of gaming that I don't believe they are accustomed to....having a voice in the development process.
Along with this, comes the plug for the candidate that will represent you best. SKIPPERMONKEY!
Do it...because some day you just might need to shoot at the Jita Monument. Would you like a kitten? |

You mean there's still people that have the illusion that people can be motivated to vote in the Match Between The Biggest Bullies?
There's a reason the Goons ( and others, goons are simply more successful at it..) have a big recruitment drive/pewpew-action-for-dummies campaign going around this time of the year.. |

I think new players don't need to concern themselves with this boring election stuff. Have fun. Fly spaceships. |

Of course we should concern ourselves and vote. It's our future as well as yours.

We at CCP encourage indeed our community to participate in the development of EVE, may it be in form of the elected Council of Stellar Management, may it be in direct feedback to questions asked in devblogs (the recent ship balancing devblog being the latest example), face to face discussions at Fanfest and/or other player gatherings or "simply" by suggesting little ideas or big features.
You, the players, make the difference!
Inform yourself, get involved, make a (more or less lasting) impact. After all, that is what EVE is also about, giving people the tools to shape their own universe. CCP Phantom - German Community Coordinator |

Just beware the CSM demagogues. They are out there and they are preying on your relative newbishness. |

You can research Skippermonkey's history....definitely not a "demagogue".

Only one small problem (depending on your definition of new, that is)
Anyone less than 30 days old, cannot vote.
Still, it's worth educating yourself on the process |

Jenn Makanen wrote:Still, it's worth educating yourself on the process Certainly is educational, I wonder many new players have an idea of what CSM is, what the various candidates have achieved or simply who the hell they are. Also, being new players, I'm not sure many can figure how their programs can have much of an influence on their daily Eve.
Zixie Draco wrote:You can research Skippermonkey's history....definitely not a "demagogue". Nice try.
Anyway, already voted and found a nice CSM scam in my eve-mail this morning, I hope nobody lost their accounts on that one. If in doubt... PANIC! Support Two Step for CSM! |

Be informed and get involved, just remember this is Eve; where metagaming, scheming and mind games are allowed, encouraged and have great power.
So make sure you check your facts, don't take anyone's word at face value and make your own decision. Holds true for all aspects of Eve but especially true of the people standing for the CSM slots during and leading up to the voting period. Curiosity killed the Kata...

If new players are curious about the issues, a helpful way to see some of the candidate positions is this Vote Match website: http://match.eve-csm.com/
Back when I started Eve, my account was too new to vote, think I was in the free trial. But I'm voting this time. It's interesting how much my perspectives have changed since I began playing. I've made the trip from hisec mining and hiding in stations, all the into really enjoying the nullsec side of the game. Go figure

Accordingly to the CSM Election Site:
Quote:We appreciate your interest in the Council of Stellar Management but sadly you do not meet our criteria for voting. An account that is complimentary, was put to GÇÿactiveGÇÖ status in the last 4 hours or was created less than 30 days ago is excluded from voting.
Trying again after 4 hours or contacting Customer Support are two possible solutions.
So maybe if I ask Customer Support I could vote? Or it's just for 30-day-older people with issues? Any Dev/Mod around to clarify this for me? "Give a man fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you'll feed him for his life." |

Heads up, it's a bit more restrictive than previously said:
Quote:2012.03.08 11:33:00 CCP Diagoras
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in the ongoing election. Our apologies for the misleading text in the error message, the full criteria in order to vote are as follows:
-Your account has to be 30 days old, or 60 days old in the case of buddy accounts. This change was implemented to prevent potential electoral fraud. -Your account has to be a paying account which has been active for at least 4 hours, though this can extend up to 28 hours due to some checks in our billing system.
If your account is a paying account that is old enough and still can't vote after having been active for 28 hours, please let us know so that we can investigate it.
Best regards,
CCP Diagoras John Turbefield - CSM Team CCP hf. If in doubt... PANIC! Support Two Step for CSM! |
