To the voters who supported the other candidates .. appears you made good choices overall, I believe this is a team we can work with successfully.
To my fellow council members, look forward to catching up with you shortly, we have a shed-load of work ahead of us!
Will put some stats up on www.eve-csm.com tomorrow. Suffice to say, it wasn't position in the ranking ballot that counted for the inaugural council.

I would just like to thank the EVE Community for its support throughout this campaign and for electing me on to the CSM. While I am aware that many of my own alliance and our allies voted for me, I am also aware that I garnered substantial support across the EVE universe, from all kinds of unexpected quarters, and I immensely grateful to everyone who saw fit to vote for me.
It will be both a privilege and an honour to represent the EVE Community in Iceland and I will certainly reflect this in the way I contribute going forward.
I just want to reiterate that I am not going to CSM to represent any particular viewpoint or playstyle or to champion the rights of 0.0 spaceholder. I am going to CSM to represent the playerbase as a whole and to ensure that this game which we all play continues to improve. That may mean that I end up defending the rights of sov-holders on some issues and opposing them on others. It simply depends on the issue and what I feel is in the best interest of this game and its playerbase going forward.
I would also like to thank the other candidates for what was in general a clean campaign. I look forward to working with the other successful representatives and intend to respect the expertise they bring to the CSM. As I have said before I am not a 'marketeer' or an 'industrialist' and will therefore respect the views and opinions of those who have more experience in those aspects of the game! The CSM Council does represent a cross section of EVE playstyles and I sincerely believe that every viewpoint is valid and of merit even if I do not necessarily agree with all of them.
Finally, I would like to thank CCP. I think this is a very exciting opportunity and am looking forward to meeting you all in Iceland. I sincerely hope that this is not a huge publicity stunt (as many suspect) and that the CSM does get the opportunity to contribute to the development in a real (and realistic) way. I certainly intend to do my part!
Anyway (apart from the Tom Cruise love) this kinda sums up my current feelings:

I'll probably do a proper speech later on in the evening. Just heading out for fencing practice now. Just want to say a big thanks to everyone who voted for me in the CSM! Its been a superb few weeks of campaigning and I've been able to meet a lot of new people and listened to a hell of a lot of good ideas along the way. Acting as chairman for the inaugural CSM is a big responsibility and I'm very proud to take up this position and ensure that the process will be a great success going forward. All the best chaps! I'm a bit surprised that there were less then 25,000 votes. I'm even more surprised that I had a relative big impact on the councilor I backed, I voted with my active accounts and that was almost 1% of the votes for that councilor. One percentage might not seem much, but living in a country where your vote is one in sixteen million, it's bloody huge! If everything goes well, I might double my active accounts for the next election ;-) I find that a bit scary (and very exhilarating), because certain Alliances could dig up enough folks to actually get a seat (if not multiple), it just seems that this time they didn't really try. Not to mention that 375B isk would buy you the Council Chairman seat, 110B isk buys you a seat on the council (buying 30 day GTCs)...
I'm also surprised that there's so much orange on the council, there's three dutch folks! Guess how they are going to vote on combat drugs legalization ;-)

Some more stats :
53% of all votes (not counting abstains) where cast on the first 9 67% of all votes (not counting abstains) where cast on the first 14
Those numbers tell me that the CSM represents a majority of voters. Which is a good thing

I'd dearly like to do some more stats as well - So here's a call for CCP to release the full voting details (as a download).

Originally by: Daelin Blackleaf 1% of us voted for the chairman. 5.7% of us voted for someone who made the council.
94.3% of us are being represented by people they have not voted for.
^ these are the real statistics. As well as less than 3% of the vote was required for a seat, less than 0.028% of accounts was required for a seat.
3530 people voted for GoonFleet members, the alliance has just over 5000 members, which means that they got around a 70% turnout, while the average was a 10% turn out. (some non members could have voted for them but then their members could have voted for others).
The top candidate got 4x the vote of the last candidate to be elected.

Well done to everyone that was chosen. Makes me wonder if I could have won had I decided to enter but then I wouldn't have the time once uni started again in september to properly dedicate to it. As expected, goons managed to get two members into the council by zerging the vote (a perfectly valid strategy). Bane Glorious I know has something of a creative and debative streak that should make for a decent CSM but Darius I've never really heard of.
Jade Constantine is probably the best man for chairman, all things considered. He has had massive support from many sectors of the EVE community despite having been completely banned from the forums until recently from a very long time ago. You don't generate that level of constant support without being in tune with what the players need. Hardin did a very good job of gathering up voters with his CSM blog and forum posts, evidence that campaigning really does work if done properly. And from what I've heard, "Ankhesentapemkah" gained most of her votes due to the "OMG GIRL" effect that plagues the internet.
Two people I'm pleased to see in there are LaVista Vista and Serenity Steele. Perhaps now we can get industry and market issues dealt with on the same level as combat issues. Those guys know their stuff and should make good CSMs.
Originally by: Arkanjuca Try to be the most transparent as you can plz, democracy is all about it.

i find the winning nomination of Ankhesentapemkah to be very troubling and ominous. eve has enjoyed a comfortable niche as the place where people's more base emotions are given free reign, if not without consequence. I fear that if too much deferense is given to this perverse 'take care' lobby, in my opinion wholly elected upon the 'LOOK GAIZ IMA GIRL IRL WOOT WOOT' platform, the very core principles of the game we know and love may come under insidious attack by those who wish to shape it into something it is not, never has been and, god willing, never shall be allowed to become.
I am also relieved somewhat to see that the other members of the CSM come from more reasonable backgrounds and will surely stand to uphold eve's most shining aspect - the right to do ill upon fellow man if your might and conscience allow it.

Coming as a completely "unknown" and score the third largest amount of voters behind two "EVE celebrities" is a good achievement.
It is my hope that her representation in the council will mean that people who wants to play the game at their own pace and not follow the path of stereotype will continue to have their place in EVE.

(I'm off to hit people with swords).
Shortest Jadepost ever?
I expect to see outposts exploding young (wo)man!

what percentage of the player base uses the forums on a regular basis? I have a sneaky suspicion its about 11.08%.
thats enough tinfoil hattery for me. I'm just going to sit back and wait for the stories of corruption and scandal. you can't have a proper democracy with out corruption and scandal.

Edited by: ATOM ANT on 22/05/2008 17:08:55 Not all the votes were counted as i was unable to get my third account vote to register. How many more were in the same boat? Is it signifigant? Tough to tell without the numbers. Gratz to the new council members and good luck.

i find the winning nomination of Ankhesentapemkah to be very troubling and ominous. eve has enjoyed a comfortable niche as the place where people's more base emotions are given free reign, if not without consequence.

Congratz to this new counsel and CCP, cause they made this elections possible. Especially want to say that Ankhesentapemkah was chosen by our corp because of some of her points in her campaign concerning R&D and being a voice for the smaller independent corps and players. I think it is a little dense to ascribe her election just to some "OMG-IMA-GIRL-thing".

Congratulations to all the candidates, I don't envy you your workload but I admire your dedication to the cause. With this latest development, we have proven that Eve and CCP are the most advanced MMORPG on the planet.
Good luck.

P.S. Being in the CSM won't save you when the Empyrean Age kicks in.
