One of my corp mates recently tried to complete an agent mission which before the highways would have taken him about 4 jumps. But due to the new highway systems, it has added an exra 4-8 jumps on any rip throught the area. This has meant that on several occasions any bonus rewards that were offered have been pretty much impossible to get.
I was just wondering if anyone else had found this problem?
I know he could move to another agent, but why should he have to? he's found the best agent he could use (quality 18) so why should he use a lesser one just because ccp hasn't changed the delivery distance?
Plus, think of all the noobs who start in that area, and after doinf their training missions decide that tinstead of earning standings and moey, they'd rather play EVE the online mining game

hmm - normlly the route for agents gets screwed when they move star gates around... normally gets fixed the patch afterwards

So they made it that you actually got to work a bit harder to get the bonus reward, instead of sleeping thru most of the mission and still getting it....darn.
And btw, if his run got moved from 4 jumps to 12 jumps....a 24 jump round trip can be done in 40 minutes if your ship is setup right. Leave the damned indy at home might be a start.

I thought agent missions were picked based on number of jumps, fly through system sec ratings, and end system sec ratings.
I haven't noticed a difference, and my last agent was right off the highway.

Iteron 5 + 5 overdrive 1's (+30) + 2 named 10NM AB's + maybe couple of 1MN AB's (not that they make much difference)
= 750m/s+
And 3000 cargo space :D
Which means you can move LOADS of construction blocks/garbage

Edited by: Swift on 04/05/2004 20:19:52 I am not sure why situations would ever occur when bonus rewards are impossible to get? I tend to finish courier missions with lots of time to spare over the bonus rewards. But I do *all* of them in frigates with mwds - in terms of cargo capacity, there are options that allow you to do large cargo missions on the most part. One frigate of choice for example is the Inquisitor - with three expanded cargoholds and a medium and low cargo cannister inside can hold over 650 I believe. And in over 300 missions for an administration agent which used to give around 90% courier (and now around 80%), Ive found myself running out of space only twice...
Still sounds like some of you guys have agents that are giving you ridiculous loads... what can I say... -----
--- 'The truth about low sec space is that it reveals humanity - the 'essence' of all the races, in its purest form. A place where Concord no longer polices or protects, 'human nature' thrives in all its distilled destructive self-serving glory. Welcome to hell ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what it really is to be human.'

Its possible to do missions to get bonus all the time but number of jumps compared to reward is funny, 19j to get 63k and few shuttles??? Give me a brake, if there was no implants (mem and int) i would dont tuch a mission even with long sharp spear:)
And i dont wait for lvl4 agents, not a chance, double rewards but need few friends? They will help me all the time for free? Than if we will split rewards... say double reward 120k(minimal, almost always)-240k(max, once per looong time) + shuttles;) on let say only 3 peoples it is veeery small amount of cash per head oh and i almost forgot few shuttles;)

The bonus reward times are still better then the 15 min/30 min they gave when castor came out :P

Edited by: Lao Tzu on 05/05/2004 11:05:04 Afik mission bonus times are based on the average time to complete, so missions that are often 'insta-completed', or the indy missions people do with IWMBs, can end with impossile time bonuses for people not using these tactics.

Not all.
I occasionally get a mission with the following attributes: a) Requires cruiser or indy cargospace b) 8 jumps each way, 16j roundtrip c) 20 minute early reward time, with a skillpack as bonus
Even with instajump bookmarks all the way there and back, the best I've been able to do on such a mission is 21 minutes. Yes, I missed the deadline by one minute. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

I missed getting a decent reward (for me anyway, minmatar frigate skillbook) by SECONDS. At the time, I had to use my bantam with cargo expanders to do the big missions. Had this a few times, But before I accept the missions I usually check the distance on the map. And if it is quite afew jumps I spend some time manually setting waypoints to the destination.
Doing it this way have managed to get the number of jumps down considerably. Had one mission where just setting the destination was 13 jumps, after manually setting waypoints to make my own route had it down to 5 jumps. It takes a bit of time to plan it, but I never actually accept the mission till have my route set.

Just saw this post, if you are making the trip back to your agent before completing the mission (and from reading above it sounds like most of you are) that is why you lose the bonus, the second you get to the destination look to the right under agents tab, there is a "missions in progress" list that will show your agent. Click him, tell him you finished the mission, THEN fly back to him, making the round trip before finishing is a waste of time.

That's just wrong though - I felt unclean after using my Scorp in that manner for an agent mission. Ah noble beast, what did I do to you?
