I am about to move into a Minmatar Mammoth that I will use for trading. Does anyone have suggestions on how to set it up.

well depending on where you are it will change but high sec fittings:
4 Expanded Cargohold II
4 Medium Shield Extender II 1 Invunerability Field II
TBH it wont save you if its a decent gank but it will increase your chances, of course your chances will increase again if you dont carry much isk value or you don't autopilot.
Lowsec fittings will be more warp core stabs or inertia stabiliser based to protect you, but it prob wont help much. best bet in lowsec is a scout.
If your moving through 0.0, extenders is a good idea, and activate your hardener asap after jump since theres always a chance you will get bombed at a gate lol

I read somewhere on another thread about this (that I can't find anymore) where someone suggested cloaking. Any thoughts on that?

Yea that couldn't hurt, but it would only really be useful to go afk if you discovered a gatecamp so you couldn't be scanned out at a safe spot (which you should learn how to make, if you don't know how... very useful skill)

Vostok's suggestions are pretty good Toshi. If you plan on doing a lot of low sec/0.0 trading, I'd think about training for a blockade runner. They are quicker, more nimble and can withstand attacks better. It will take you some more training and they run about 32m plus fittings. However, if you plan on low sec etc stuff, it would be a good investment. -------------------------------

Vostok suggestion is a good one but I prefer another one for a semi-afk hauling.
high: 1x Prototype Cloak 1x Salvager medium: 1x AB T2 1x MSE T2 1x EM amplifier T2 1x Thermal amplifier T2 low: 4x Expanded Cargohold T2
edit: I use passive hardeners so I don't have to turn them on each jump.

lowsec nearly uncatchable mammoth:
high:imp cloak II meds: MWD some hardeners maybe, can't fit much here low: reactor control unit IIx4 rigs: not really needed, but go for something that gives you more agility.
double click in space next to your destination, immediately activate mwd& cloak (mwd first!) if you did it right, you will now align towards your destination cloaked, with mwd active for one cycle. select the object you want to warp to, hover your mouse over the 'warp to' button. as soon as your MWD deactivates, start spamming the warp button and deactivate your cloak. you will insta-warp out and nothing will be able to lock you in time.
if the campers are exceptionally skilled, they might be able to decloak you before you can warp, but they only have about 10 seconds to do so, and you will be moving at about 200-300m/s making it even harder.
just be careful with smartbomb camps, because those will get you.

One suggestion for the med slots on that setup: a couple of small capacitor boosters. You might not manage the whole warp in one go after activating the MWD otherwise, which can be a pain. My research services Mineral compression for carrier/Rorqual pilots |
