For my PvE Tengu and HMLs...
If I have both these skills at Level 5, is there still a need to have the Rigor and Flare rigs?
I believe these skills help to maximize the damage absorbed by a missile to small and large targets alike (right?). I'm wondering if having Level 5 on both skills helps to achieve 100% missile damage and adding the Rigor/Flare rigs are a waste at that point. Although I'd like for this to be the case, I don't think it is...
Or is it just not possible to do 100% missile damage and better to keep the Rigor/Flare rigs and even add some 5% implants for the same skills? What is the most possible damage, percent wise, a missile can do?
Hope that makes sense.....

Ever used EFT? Makes such questions trivial to answer. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EFT
Rigor I = -15% explosion radius Rigor II = -20% explosion radius
Flare I = +15% explosion velocity Flare II = +20% explosion velocity
Skills and implants are not subject to stacking penalties.
Guided Missile Precision: -5% explosion radius per level Target Navigation Prediction: +5% explosion velocity per level

I use EFT, and I know the attributes of the rigs and skills.
I think what I'm asking is, how do you determine how much damage a target absorbs from a missile hit. I don't think the target absorbs the entire 100% damage HPs from every missile that hits it. I am wondering if having the skills and implants completely maxed out will have your targets absorb 100% damage from your missiles, and at that point it's not worth fitting Rigor/Flare rigs, and best to use rig spots for something else.
Like if a missile is stated to do 300 HP damage. Will it do the full 300 HP damage EVERY TIME (my guess is no), or will it take into consideration factors such as target speed/size and do damage based on that (say average damage between 200-300)?
That's what these two skills are used for, right? To help your missiles do their most (stated) damage possible by changing the explosion radius and velocities of missiles/targets? I know they don't do raw damage increases (like Warhead Upgrades).
I use EFT but I am not sure if damage absorbed by targets based on your skills/implants/fittings is something that can be calculated. One would need a database that has every NPC ship out there and their attributes... |

With implants and skills you're only really getting help from them on frigates. I imagine you're finding you dont really need to change from t2 ammo either for most regular frigs, even some of the elites you waste more time changing ammo than just firing 1 extra volley (if even that).
I find BLA II and 2x flare I's to be a better option and only use my old Riggor/flare tengu on missions I know have alot of elite frigs.
Edit: Responding to damage done by missiles.
Ship sig/missile exp radius = % of dmg done (if missile exp radius is > ship sig you wont do full) Ship speed/exp speed = % of dmg done (if missile exp speed < ship speed you wont do full) Applied damage is also / ships shield resistance to that dmg type. (if ship has any resistance to this type of dmg, you wont do full)
There was an open office excel type of file that you could plug different rig types in and select ships to see applied damage in a nice comparison graph but I'm not at my home computer currently and honestly I do not remember where I found it, google may produce some leads for you :P |

Good find! I do believe that is it OP should look at that, it will answer almost all your questions if used in combination to EFT.

Short answer is one rigor one web and one tp if your after frigs and already have the 5% implants that effect explosion radius and velocity and have all effecting skills to L5. You'll be so close to perfect dmg you won't care when using faction ammo in HML's. If you don't run web you'll still need flare and won't be doing full dps. |
