This was my first Capital engagement since buying my carrier ages ago, as I have been to chicken **** to do anything other than polish it in station. What a baptism of fire though, the only bummer was the lag, and Ive been in enough massive fleet ops to remember to minimize all the graphics settings before the start. This didn't help much and I was down to 1 or 2 frames a minute for about 20 minutes before my client gave up the ghost. Luckily I had my tank switched on and my carrier was safe when I managed to get back in. After the defenders numbers thinned out a bit the lag dropped to just about usable and we had them on the run from there on. BIG BIG kudos to the defenders, they fought hard and long

WTF!!! There's one f***ing evening that I go to bed earlier... and of all days it is THAT f***ing evening were someone really got the balls to defend their POS! 
AWESOME fight guys! And I mean both sides...

well getting up this morning wasnt that easy for me.. took over an hour after the battle was over to get everything sorted etc.

 I'll just say this. I was part of the 40 man CAPS/MLTOV fleet, and we had no idea an extra 100 friendlies were coming. We found out 30 mins before the fight that another fleet numbering 50-60 were helping, then 5 mins into the fight when a 30 man Russian gang warped in to help. 
My computer took a **** after the Russian gang gang warped in. 1 frame per 2 mins ftw. (But I also had fraps running...) To the guy who removed brackets from overview, how much FPS boost did you get, about?

Ah cool sorry if ya thought i was *****ing about the numbers you guys brought i know how these things are when the call for help comes out get as many as poss etc. Plus obviously if you guys were all in caps wed have got minced :) Well basically i'm pretty sure the lag was local side since one of our pilots was able to get pretty good fps while the rest of us were completly lagged out since we were dual accounting. I would say i got about 5 frames per minute for most of the fight and when it got really bad i didnt see anything for 20 mins i thought i was dead. But during this time our non lagged out pilot was popping people taking the numbers down luckily.
If by any chance could you send someone from masmi your fraps be cool to see if we could get a vid together from both perspectives :) Might be able to get 10frames per minute then :)

It helps alot , especially with drone swarms. It probably won us the fight , it atleast saved us capital losses.
If i had to guess , id say atleast a 75% boost

the OP's write-up is correct. I sat watching it, as did several of my corpmates, in cloaky cloaky ships of doom. I do believe the 12 were forced to retreat (understandably so), and the shooting of the pos continued.

lol u tried to ninja some loot i believe at some point too b4 the pos gunners shot everything in sight >.<. We were worried u might try and join in at the end with ur own caps , thankfully not.

Eh intruders didnt retreat in this battle since we held the field i think you must be confused mate, we killed the POS then jumped out after the battle was over... I mean yes were not there now but hardly like we left when anything was going on?

I must say, that was a pretty wild fight. We saw in the initial attack that there were a good amount of dreads, so we opted for smaller ships such as recons and cruisers. The idea was to use sniping battleships if any at all, seeing that they'd just get slaughtered up close. After waiting around for an hour a 50-60 man battleship gang (hehe, "I told you so" springs to mind) was reported in the system at the tower. We had no idea if they were friendly or hostile so we stayed right where we were and waited for the word.
They eventually left and then the fun started: Cyno went up and our scout reported a carrier getting decimated almost instantly. We brought ourselves into the fight at the same time as the neutral 50-60 man bs gang did and it was near impossible to tell who was shooting who with all the neutrals on overview. I managed to FRAPS half of the fight, and then my framerate went from 14-15 fps to 1. I turned FRAPS off and it bumped my framerate back up to 30, only to die back down to 1 a few moments later. Sometime after that, another 25-30 man battleship gang joined the fray, and yet again we had no idea if they were helping or shooting us, though after none of them had gone crimflagged we figured they were helping too. I just kind of sat there for a while listening to two ventrilos at the same time, both filled with people who were unable to do anything. I managed to warp out which steadied my framerate, warp back in just to have it drop horrendously again, and then leave as quickly as I had come back.
The only people we were blue with in that fight were Capital Storm, we're actually set red to a lot of the people we were fighting beside. I still don't know why the Thanatos' went before the Badger Mk. III did...was quite silly if you ask me :p

The 2 dreads destroyed were ours (FPRO) . We are off in 0.0 trying to mine them back. The problem for us as mentioned was the sheer number of neutrals who turned up to the fight who we knew nothing about. They caused a stupid amount of lag and we couldn't focus our fire on anything. Molotov was the only other alliance on the field who we were blue to.
Well you live and learn, ships will be replaced ASAP.

After their second carrier went down my fpm (frames per minute ) was down to two or three. I just let the AB run to get out of range of the fight and tried to warp away. I was quite happy when the "You cannot do that in warp" message popped up. Guess that poor system didn't like having 130 people in it.

After my Carrier was killed by the massive focus of fire ...+65 Ships + deathstar tower i warped off because my ally mates started smartbombing the drones. I warped on planet 3 because this was the only thing i could select that fast. as i said i was on a pod. +5 imp pod.... and lag hell started. when i was on planet -> incomming kitsune. i wasnt scared of the carrier loss but i was in panic of beeing podkilled. ^^
i was not able to warp for 1-2 minutes and the kistune starts to lock on me... but he was not able to set a point or do anything else. so i warped off to a belt. after arriving there incomming Amarr HAC.... same again. Not able to warp, he not able to lock me. after 3 minutes which seemed like eternity itself i managed to get in warp to manarr gate. same laghell on the gate. 5 enemy BS secured the gate and i was not able to jump out, they were not able to lock or smartbomb me. nothing happened. after .. i dont know 500x spamming the jump button i escaped from battleground.
A few mins later i tried to get my cloaked pilgrim in the fight to do some screens and fraps. when i warped in -> black screen and no replay from client. every few mins 1 picture and this for more than 45mins....
all of them who managed to to escape of the battleground were very very lucky - including myself.

I can condence this into simply ' Ctrl-Q '> Your pod woulda warped off , and i doubt in the lag it woulda been probed, might now tho that ppl know u have +5's lol.
I ctrl-q'd and my HG snakes are fine....

At first I was sad I missed the fight but after hearing the stories I'm probably lucky I did! Good to see that this kind of thing can go down without lots of pointless "blah blah we would have won but lag etc" -

Well the lag was pretty evenly spread so without lag we both would of done alot better so i doubt it would make too much difference except more pilots in support ships might be able to warp out in time i suppose but once caps were dead it was a foregon conclusion :)
