WHAAAAT??? Does this mean that you'll have better frame rates and reduced client side lag in full screen mode? Interesting, I need to check this out (playing always in windowed mode).

Yeah having spaces on the Mac is absofraging fabulous, can't live without it anymore , other then that I always play in windowed 1200 x 800 mode. EVE looks really horrible in full at an 24"

Fullscreen + alt-tab, good enough. Indeed if you have the same resolution ingame and in your desktop is not much of a problem.

I run two accounts - so need both clients to run windowed. If only Eve wouldnt minimize the fullscreen mode when you click on the other screen, I would be laughing.

Pfft, everybody knows EVE has no sound, doesn't matter what level you set your speakers to Oh, and the only reason I'm arrogant is because I'm usually right (or pretty damn close) Sure, I'm completely and utterly wrong every now and then, but unless proven otherwise first...
And by the way... thank you, it's nice to know somebody cares enough to hate me

If I'm investing my attention and time into EVE-Online, I'll play it fullscreen at the maximum resolution (1280x1024), as this gives me the best FPS and screen estate.
Otherwise, I'll probably play a notch lower in the resolution in Windowed mode (1024x768) while doing other things.

If you select a windowed resolution exactly as wide as the desktop, you can manually position it so that you have no left nor roight borders, and only a 2 or 3 pixels border on the upper side. That's how I do it, anyway. Like this : Linkage.
Is this thread REALLY gogin on about 2 pixel wide borders.

HEAVILY underappreciated show. The mere idea of the Nietzscheans, for instance. Or the slipstream/slipdrive concept. And a lot more of the small things here and there. All of them, huge potential, good cast/characters too (half of them anyway). Too bad it was set to such a child-like audience, especially later in the show.

Agreed. I never ever ever play a game unless its fullscreen. You got these guys on here crying, *****in and whining there they get bad frames and this and that...well have they ever thought it could be due to the fact that they are not playing in Fullscreen mode? Besides...alt-tabbing in and out of eve is just milisecond wait time so Im not bothered by it.

Maybe you should get some cotton swabs and clean out those ears. Or maybe invest in a hearing aid and get your hearing looked at all together? Cause when I play eve I definately HEAR sounds of all sorts.

He is referring to things as they were a year or so ago. When the eve sound system was rather archaic and cost most people a good chunk of FPS.
The "Eve has sound" line was an in joke as just about every pvp player had it turned off.
It was upgraded around two patches ago. Now days It doesn't seem to cause me any lag at all for small fights. Then again I would probably kill it off for a proper fleet bash, but then again. I will tap the ground three times with a lucky rabbit foot and say 15 hail marys before a fleet fight

I figured thats what he was talking about...I play UT with the music off to better concentrate. So I agree on the "eve has sound?" line...but I just find it overused, played out, not funny, etc. Can I get a lucky rabbits foot?

most play full screen because weak vid cards suffer in windowed mode. not sure how bad it is in eve, but many games suffer severe frame rate drops when windowed.

Back in the day, when I would play on a CRT monitor, the difference in brightness between the Windows UI/desktop background and the EVE window would always bother me. It was a lot easier on my eyes to alt-tab to allow a short transition from one to the other.

This was also a factor back when I was using a Pentium 4 and a Radeon 9800PRO
I've been playing on a LCD display for about a year now, still full screen. I guess it's mainly for the immersion factor. Even when I'm doing other things while playing I still feel more of a citizen of EVE without the window.
That's typically also the case for me and any other game too.

Windowed mode is only more practical if you are short on PC's. I play fullscreen because I can, with no need to compromise, unlike you.
See, that is how you do arrogance.

I used to play full screen for the resolution, until CCP broke it by changing it so alt tab would cause a client crash 25% of the time.
Now I play eve windowed at 1600x1200 (monitor resolution) and use the option in evemon to move the window so the title bar doesn't show. It looks like fullscreen, but doesn't crash when you alt tab. -------------------------------------------------------------- Seriously, we need some kind of separation between the post and signature. There you go. Now that wasn't so hard |

They did have that one ep, can't remember much about it, but they were dropping some kind of singularity bomb or somesuch to kill an alien invasion of some kind. Anyway, had to be like one of the biggest explosions I've seen in a sci-fi, outside of an anime.

My system locks up completely if I run two clients both with Trinity, windowed or fullscreen. Sometimes, just for good measure, it eats some DLLs so I have to reinstall the whole client.
I only get graphical corruption when I dual-client fullscreen with classic content. Windowed it's fine.
So typically I'm windowed with classic graphics on, even though my rig should "On Paper" support dual clients full-screen.

Full screen to get AA&HDR goodness, window mode loses that. Full screen is significantly more optimized and leverages my SLI setup Full screen - gfx cards run cooler Full screen - maximize pixels and screen space, I actually like seeing my ship and not fly by instrument, it is a game after all.
Have a laptop which is where any 'alt-tabbing' needs to be done
