If you could buy human meat at Tesco, would you?
If you were offered it, maybe by one of those tribal cultures, would you eat it?
What's it taste like anyway? would it go with pasta? I like pasta.

I would totally eat it, as long as it was handled with the same care as any other meat. I would not accept it from some tribal culture as their food handling practices are not up to my standards. If it was handled to the same standards as beef I would be totally on board to try it out though.

No. I recall a documentary on the history or discovery channel that human flesh contains some sort of virus that really screws with whatever eats it. I dont know if its dependant on the lifestyle the eaten lead though. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

There's that brain disease, works similar to BSE. Some of those cannibals in those Pacific islands suffered from that. Is that what you mean? or something else?

Hmm, standards in slaughterhouses are more of a problem now (UK) than they used to be, because of welfare regulations. You're not allowed anymore to starve beasts before slaughter (used to be no food for 1 day before), which means the intestines are still full, which makes processing harder and messier.
Not to say standards of cleanliness in the past were high - they weren't, but achieving the modern high standards is made harder by the welfare regulations.

I was gonna post a pic but thinking about it the picture may be too graphic for some viewers and would most likely result in me being banned from teh forums for a while, so I'll let this one go.
Animals are one thing, I'll take steak any day of the week, but eating people, Ain't logical. Cuttin' on his own face, rapin' and murdering - Hell, I'll kill a man in a fair fight... or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm gettin' paid - mostly only when I'm gettin' paid. But these Reavers... last ten years they show up like the bogeyman from stories. Eating people alive? Where's that get fun?
Wait, what were we talking about again?.....

Indeed human meat seems to be very much the same as pig meat, people who have a taste for pig meat (hmm bacon) seem to have a gene that can be tracked back to cannibalism in some cases.
Also Some pig organs are great for transplanting into humans, which just shows how much alike humans and pigs are, not to mention that pigs are very intelligent animals.
So no doubt that human meat will be very edible, except of course the stigma that society has placed upon cannibalism and also the problem that its illegal to actually ever try it out.

That was Kuru (similar to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) which is a brain disease that is caused by a Prion (a protein that consumes the brain) causing insanity and other mental issues and death. They then ate the brain the elder which they believed would pass on the knowledge he had. Just done eat the brain and you'll be fine.
That said, I wouldn't eat people, its just not sanitary and where would you get said people? I'm pretty sure human is white meat so you'd treat it like chicken or pork, so you'd have to be careful with the preparation of it.
Soylent Green is the best way to market people, as long as they don't know it's people. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

I wouldn't touch the stuff. However, I can imagine that had I been raised in an entirely different culture, I wouldn't find the idea so abhorrent. It's more of a cultural taboo than there being anything inherently wrong with it.

Not many people DO eat animals. Meat doesn't move -> isn't animated -> isn't an animal.
I've got a little more pedantry in stock if needed.

I probably wouldn't try it but if I would be forced to choose eating a rat, a snake, insects or humans, I'd go with humans.

There are quite a few commonly-eaten insects, and rats aren't so bad if you cook them thoroughly. Snakes can be a bit trickier, though.

I wouldn't eat actual human meat, because of the obvious prion disease risk and general shoddy shape of the human body (the amount of booze, caffeine and tobacco entering my system is enough to render my flesh unfit for consumption) - but I would try like, lab-grown synthetic human meat. I give it five years until a restaurant pops up serving just such lab-grown cuts of synthetic human rump steak to exclusive clientele. I bet it'll be in Japan, they're always first with the weird stuff.
