While my knowledge of many aspects of Eve is vast, there are also many thing I do not know.
Of all the things I don't know, one question gnaws at my mind more than all others.....
On a Tempest class Battleship, what are the proper names for the top and bottom wingy bits?

I thought the panel-wings on Minmatar ships were solar panels or something. Best to just call them 'things'.
Do the right thing. Don't leave shuttles in space. |

I think they are communication antenna arrays to ensure Eve-TV can be tuned in all over the universe.
These are peculiar to Minmatar vessels, they all have some sort protruding from the main ship. The also might double as ECM foils transmitting electronic "chaff" to make signature resolution more difficult.
I am still looking for the "on" button though....

They are ovbiously the dorsal and ventral radiating arrays, used for dumping waste heat (from the minmatar's inefficent engines and reactor core) in space

I have hope for a developer responce
This question has been bugging me sense I've watched that "Clear Skies" film.
If those part of the ship have a proper name, what is it?

Boring answer: Canards, which are technically airfoils mounted in front of the main lifting surface. Why they're needed in space, only the Minmatar know. I suspect they found some and refused to let them go to waste.
Or they are trying to appease the Gallente by taping what they belive to be holy animals (ducks, in the French language, to be specific) to their ships.

They're Rust Accretion Inhibitor and Dispersion devices, sometimes known as RAID arrays.
Only, they don't work very well.

Sails? No wind, not practical. Nor are wings even though alot of ships have them. A box would be just as aerodynamic as any of the EVE ships in a vacuum. Probably better looking than some too.
I'm going with the phalic compensation. |
