This is an amazing battle, I guess it shows how badass the humans really are .

With a limited (increasing as it went on) budget and a number of years old now, B5 did quite well in most of its space scenes - what stood out for me was the ^$#&?!! YOU factor they really got across in the Centauri standoff, forget the name of the episode, when they're sheltering the Narn cruiser. The recently upgraded station weaponry coming on line and then Sheridan's classic "...oh, hell." when it all hits the fan is quite excellent . The rapid shots of various station batteries opening up..
They also REALLY did freefall fighter scenes / maneuvering. Even in BSG you see a bias towards the way atmospheric ships fly. The Starfuries in B5 did rotating / strafing runs and maneuvers you'd expect to take advantage of in space (assuming you don't gee-force yourself into putty on the side of your*****pit).
Also, the - again forget the episode name, it's been a while - standoff after B5 breaks away, and you have the friendly Earth crusiers aligned with B5 vs. the Earth-loyal task force... very well done, and perfectly capped by the Minbari cruisers popping up on top of B5 itself... Delenn's classic "be somewhere else" speech, and the wonderful final shot of the Earth loyalists about-facing and Going Away Damn Fast

I just love how FRAN walks up to the replicators, says hello, then activates with a smile on her face.

Highway chase scene, beginning from the moment the two ghostly assassin programs arrive and do battle with Morpheus and Trinity, including Morpheus' samurai moment with the truck's gas tank, to the point where the semi trucks hit head on and Neo grabs everybody and flies off.
Hrm, good point. I hadn't considered non-spacey scifi. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

The ship they're in always reminds me of an Iteron for some reason.
As a new favourite though, I would like to nominate today's BSG combat scenes. Especially when they have the camera fly through the flak, missiles and general projectile ammo being traded between the basestars and the vipers. It was pretty damned awesome...

one thing that i have wondered about in space combat is since on a fighter the guns only face front, why if you get someone on your six cant you just pop the rcs thrusters, flip end over end 180deg and shoot the bastard. in space you would still hold your current direction and could burn the engines hard and charge at the enemy if needed.

Flying level enough to do said maneuver would get you killed?

the starfury design in babylon 5 is one of the best for this kind of thing head to 2:05
not the best example in the show but gives the da.
also that opening sequence in Pitch Black rocked my world, low budget low hype film at the cinema and it did something a spectacular as this. hmm may have to did out the dvd again.
