The easiest way for CCP to stop macros is to throw in a "Ship System" bug from time to time, if the type of fitting can be understood by the servers I:E mining lasers why not throw in a random bug every 2-4 hours which shuts the lasers off for a spot of cooling.
Don't flame me it's just an idea. |

Nah.
Best way to stop macro miners is to name and shame them and their corporations on a ban list.

Buck nut, how can Cao Cao be a thief if the people he was takin ore from didnt seem to mind. The least they could have done to show their displeasure was stop mining.
So yea I think perma-bans are in order for such people.
Also let me say ore thiefs arent the lowest of the low macro-mining idjits are.
Why dont you just DIE DIE DIE !!!!

A corporation has 7 battleships mining in perfect sync with indies and Cao Cao came along and rather casually picked up over 1M units of ore.
Nothing was said by anyone of the mining members in local while this happened even when Cao Cao blocked their indies from making a pick-up.
Are you seriously telling me you need more proof that there were macros at work?

Playing the Devil's advocate but CCP made EVE this way that to get anywhere you have to spend a long time doing boring repetitive tasks.
Kudos for taking there ore though and as wasn't in secure cans it doesn't count as theft in my book.

billys death is probably part of the macro that is broken. Someone needs to tell this corp the macro is broken and billys death is not pulling in his share. Agent Shield |

PS: It means that you are clueless
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

Nicely done Cao Cao, scripting a machine to play the game for you is just sad and it is now the single lowest point I've seen a player sink to.
However, instead of informing the person you are stealing their ore just steal 95% of it. Leave them scratching their heads and fighting with their macros to figure out why only one mining laser fires while their macro runs. ------------------------------------- // The views expressed by this poster are not the views of the poster's corporation, alliance, planet or television network... but they should be. |

Its very hard to do things against macros. You can be glad that its not as bad as in Diablo II where bots can play the whole game, including PvP, for ya.
I agree that CCP should do everything they can to counter any exploiting or use of macros/bots but as I said I don't have much hope. In case the situation gets too bad you have to move to another game ... until it gets the same problems as well and you have to switch games again.

LMFAO Way to go Cao Cao I have heard of people using macros, and its not hard to tell if they are. Its just a matter of the GM's pulling their heads out and doing something about it.
And to Josh, good idea about Punkbuster, but yes it would cost them a lot due to copyright. Unless CCP could make up thier own version... but I rather them keep working on Shiva.. and everyone steal the macro wh@res ore!

Yeah, Cao Cao may be at war with us, but I have to admit this is classy stuff. Well done for ripping off those cheating sods. That kind of thing is sad sad sad. I love the imagery of you making their mining fleet your slaves for the evening. You should probably send them and eve-mail saying you have their "cut" of the take somewhere in 0.0 if they want to pick it up. Knowing these clowns they'll probably write an afk macro to come to the station ;)
Heh, the best part was around 9am GMT, when I had just handed off responsibility for stealing their ore to Soule (who was in local and also petitioned the event), and a corpmate who wanted some free ore, whoever it was running the operation finally "came home."
I was picking up a load of minerals to haul back home when Bjorne says in local: "Are you stealing my ore?" Apparently this was directed to Zanister or Soule who were in the belt at the time, but I couldn't help but inform him then that I had been scooping up his ore all night, thanks for the 12 mils in profit. He wasn't pleased and I guess he docked all their ships or left the system.

easy solution to this is to make sure that the shield / recharge rate must be lower than the damage from rats for u to be allowed to mine there by concorde. If u go afk, u'll lose ur ship

Hehehe i got a ebil idea the people of eve should try to compile a list of the mcro miners of eve then have people who have access to agents with location services look them up to allow people to steal the ore they dont deserve to have. --------------------------------------

This is when it would have been a nice feature to be allowed to board their ships and take them. Someone wants to leave a few battleships in a system, they should suffer the consequences of them being boarded by another.
Had you been able to board their battleships and pilot them to the station, it would have been a really good day! Agent Shield |

All you have to do is look up 'Eve Online' in Google and look at the sponsored links result on the right side of the screen. There are any number of sites where you pay a fee and you an gain access to mining macros and more. This guy probably did just that.
Perhaps a DNS attack on their servers hmmmm..... Formerly Voidhawk

I personally have seen many pvper exploits, and pvpers exploiting the "exploit" reports from my enemies. Do they get banned? NOPE. smack on wrist, NEXT.
Who cares.

BOTS are very dangerous, because these can be used to generate isk that will be sold on ebay. If you had seen L2 taken over by BOTS and farmers like I did, you would really care, trust me. Nuponi Nimedaz: "You're a pilot after my own heart, Alastra." |

Dude if you think PvPers are exploiting then petition it and if theres action taken by CCP then let it go.
As for your whos it hurtin comment, the rest of us is who. this is exactly why bship strip miners in 0.9 and 1.0 deserve to have their ships blown up and their pods repeatedly popped. First of all for hogging systems that should be left for the noobs and then for using cheats like this.
No amount of whinging can absolve them of this lowest of the lowest crime. Using loop holes in game mechanics to win a fight is one thing but, using code not ingame to actually mine for you is just low.
I have more respect of the suicide kestral alts than scum like macro-miners.
Ps. You can try docking when you run to the restroom just like the rest of us while doing various other things ingame.
Why dont you just DIE DIE DIE !!!!
