Cerebus cost less, has more CPU and calibration, and has a lot more resistance. navy caracal has more PG and an extra rig slot.
so why does the CNC cost soooooo much more when its not really that good?

Because to acquire one from an NPC, you have to spend LP's, and those LPs cost quite a bit, regardless of what you spend them on.

Edited by: 7shining7one7 on 05/06/2008 15:15:44 because hacs > faction cruisers
you need specialization skills to fly a hac, you only need caldari cruiser to fly a faction cruiser.
and it's called a cerberus.

How much more does it cost?
It depends on how what value you assign to LP.

Edited by: Pirokobo on 05/06/2008 16:51:01 The price point of LP is very expensive and there is little fluidity.
If CCP would make LP an exchangeable commodity, this would increase fluidity and potentially drive down the price. But they haven't and probably won't.

2 things drive up the cost, 1 is They are hard to get, 2 is they offer tech 1.5 quality without the skills. People are impatient and rather then wait and train they want a better ship NOW.
So you have a low supply and a pretty good demand.

You don't feel that a Navy Caracal is worth it? Then don't get it. If you don't buy people will instead convert their LP to produce faction mods and other items instead.
In a supply and demand economy with infinitely scalable supply, items aren't priced after demand or how good they are. They're scaled after how much they cost to make (which is determined by how much ISK you could get if you used your resources in an optimal manner).
The LPs used to make a Navy Caracal could be used to make X amount of ISK, so X amount of ISK+Cost of Caracal is what you're paying. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

It really depends. CNC's often sell on auction for wide prices - I've personally seen 65 million - 120 million isk. A Cerberus tends to run around 65 - 75 million ISK.
In terms of the pure capabilities of the ship, the Cerb hits harder at longer ranges and has the potential to absorb more damage.
The CNC on the other hand is lighter and has three rig slots meaning it can make a somewhat effective Nano ship.

Edited by: Fist1 on 05/06/2008 21:49:20 ok I had never heard of using it as a nano ship. but I guess that makes sense. I know its getting improved for the new expansion, but before that I could not see why someone would pay 100 mil for a T1.5 cruiser. I didn't think anyone (with any sense) would use a CNC in a pvp roll since you get little back on insurance, when for the same price(or cheeper as of late) you could use a HAC with a more or less chance to survive.
