What happens to skills when you get podded and your clone is up to date? Do you lose anything?

If you have an up to date clone, you only lose your current body and any implants in it and will have to upgrade your clone again.

If your clone is up to date and of quality enough to cover all the skillpoints you have, you don't lose any skills at all. Whatever you have training keeps on going as if nothing had happened. You do lose the implants and your ship, of course.
BUT, when you wake up in the medical bay, you must remember to immediately purchase anoter high-grade clone, because death resets you to the basic clone.
If you die (again) without an up-to-date clone, you lose 5% of the points of one of your highest skills. That's typically anywhere from a few hours to re-train the skill, to a couple days.

You sir are my hero. I have been thinking for a few weeks now (people never gave abs clear answers when I asked) that if you die without an upgraded clone (slim chance, but still possible) that you lose ALL your skillpoints down the skill point limit on the basic clone.
5% of the highest skill your character has, (though it's very unfortunate still) is nothing like I was thinking. Losing months of skill training, however, would = uber sad panda.

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 06/06/2008 16:47:04 It always takes it from the skill that took the longest to learn, so if you have a rank 12 lvl 5 skill it'll be 'fun' to lose it.

I thought it was 5% of total skillpoints, taken from the highest-SP skill you've trained, up some kind of a limit like half a level. Perhaps I was wrong. I'm not gonna test it and find out!

Well it's 5% of something, and no one wants to test.
Perhaps GM Zhainius could come back and post an exact answer, since it is a question of game mechanics that most other games have documented very visibly on their websites / FAQs.
I'll go look in the Knowledgebase.

Well, it would depend on total skillpoints.
Took me about a month to retrain Wing Command 5, after losing 1 million SP's from almost 21 million. _______ Break your chains! Kinda'Shujaa is just the first step. |
