Very seldom do we learn just one thing at a time... in the real world, take high school for example, we may visit a math class, history class, science class and english class all in the course of a single day. Why then, in EVE, are we limited in our ability to expand our minds? Are we not capable of progressing our consciousness via parallel paths in the future?
I propose a new skill called Advanced Learning. This skill would be unlocked once you've attained rank 5 in: Learning, Clarity, Logic & Instant Recall.
Advanced Learning: You are an adept student. You possess the ability to study multiple subjects at once. Allows a second actively trained skill at 15% of your normal SP/h. Each additional rank increases your secondary training SP/h by 15%.

Remove all learning skills and give everyone +10 attribute and refund the sp in the skills.

Please don't derail my thread with yet another rehash of that old debate.

So basically the long time players will be learning a second skill at 75% speed while everyone else is scrambling to catch up? As much as I'd like this, it'd increase the divide between old players and new players because the old players would be training much faster. CCP have already hinted at implementing a system where you can train 2 skills at once; a primary skill at 80% speed and a secondary skill at 20% speed, automatically switching to 100% when one skill finishes. That is pretty balanced and doesn't really increase the SP gap between player segments. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

Correct... the concept, while available to everyone, would reward those who did proper due diligence and trained up their learning skills. (I'm a new player, btw... ~1 month old, so I wouldn't even immediately benefit from it at this time)
In any case, I had not heard about the hinted adjustment you've indicated... that would be sufficient to cover my intended goal with the suggestion, therefore has my full and enthusiastic support! |

Signed, nice idea
Maybe we could also have more attribute learning skills like maybe Rank 10 and they increase the attribute by 2 (Sorry if this intrudes)

That idea is basically already present. In real life you don't learn many topics at the same time either. At least I've never managed to open two books and study both subjects at the same time. In other words learning specific topics are interleaved as they are in Eve.
You could say that mastery of a skill is achieved at level 5, but how often does one train a skill from level 1 to level 5 without training other skills in between. Instead training skills are usually interleaved as they are IRL.

this would add another "must-have" skill to the learning debarcle, and make the period for young players to "set-up" their char rather than train real skills even longer.
(edit) the reason it makes a large gap is because most ppl just train all attribute enhanving learning skills to 4, not 5. The only lev 5 learning skill si learning lev 5.

Very good point...
I've seen tons of sites that suggest things like, "Before you really start training, you need Basic Learnings to 4 and Advanced to 3-4"
This would only add another layer of prereqs.

Oh look, another "spend months training otherwise useless skills just to remain competitive" idea.

Why would anyone want to reward that? If you reward something, people will do it. So, why reward spending hundreds or thousands of hours training skills that have no effect on gameplay?

NO. This is not good idea. As ppl has said, this thing will reward old players increasing the gap between old and new players. What we need imo is a way to decrease the gap (over a long time, not in one day)

Thats nice for new players but the older ones have paid a lot of money, imo should just leave as is, or you could introduce it as a rank5 whatevr skill so that lvl one would take a month, level 2 - 2 months etc, then hardly anyone would do it and it would be even still.... whens wse getting +7 implants?

Hey, i'm talking about years to catch up. But cause i have no idea of a fair way to do it (of course older players should have the chance to increase their sp gain too, i was thinking about something implemented in walking stations, an active action), i'd leave it as it is now.

So... because you disagree with my idea, you wish a violent death upon me? How very nice of you.
To everyone else... valid arguments against. I appreciate the feedback.
