this discussion is about the prices of gtcs for isk and the varying of prices sellers wanting to inflate buyers wanting to push the price down
chars going for 5bil+ and the implications for new players wanting to get a char by selling gtc to people and then buying a char
and how high players can play eve for free because of their isk turnovers
i believe that the isk prices for gtc should increase by around 100-500% because the people that sell the gtc should get a marked amount of a non-existing money for the money that buys them food or pays the mortgage

I believe you're a GTC seller.
I'm a buyer, so I also believe that GTC prices should be reduced by 100% - 500000%.
In fact, the new patch is going to cause GTC prices to plummet. It might be best to liquidate your stock now. I'm in for 10x90D @ 5m each.

I believe it doesn't matter what you think their price should be.
If you don't like the current price then buy up huge amounts of GTCs so that they go up.

You mean spare cash after living expenses have been deducted, right? Because if you are using money for food & mortgage for GTC you shouldn't be playing.
You are using a pretty weak argument to justify a 100-500% increase. 500%.... hmmm, so the current value of the 30-day GTC goes from 160m to 800m. Let's be generous and say 325m for a 60-day GTC, so 500% increase is 1.625billion ISK, or 100% increase is 650m ISK. Get a grip. Supply would quickly outstrip demand at those prices.
Sorry, but the market for GTC's is dictated by supply & demand.
I would pay 300-350m for 60-day GTC, but like i said supply & demand...

Why shouldn't they be 10000% higher? Of course as a GTC seller I'm sure you wish they were higher, but they aren't.
You can whine about how thats unfair, but the fact is people value EVE money differently than you do and thus are willing to sell at lower prices. Also, fewer people would be willing to pay 500mil ISK/month of EVE.

Get your fellow GTC sellers to go on strike. This will cause one of two options
1) Demand will increase considerably causing their value to rise significantly
2) CCP will reimplement the old GTC types as they attempt to stop the exodus of thousands of players.

On one hand you have disposable ISK on player characters, on the other hand you have people that need ISK and can't be arsed to get it normally. Any attempts of price-fixing will be met with the same degree of ruthlessness as, say, trying to price-fix Ravens in Jita... might work for a short while, but in the long term, no freaking chance.
Supply and demand will always dictate ISK:GTC exchange ratios, NOT price of GTCs in real-life currency. If ISK prices of GTCs fall too much, less people will sell GTCs, less accounts will be active, bringing ISK prices up again, and so on and so forth. In the long term, whoever was running on GTCs nowadays will most likely STILL be able to run on GTCs after the change. Now, wether this means more or less ISK for the dollar for GTC sellers, I couldn't care less.

As I have ran into Isk needs before I just set a price I'm willing to sell at and hold at that price.
It takes a week sometimes for me to sell but I will not sell under my price target and IF I can't sell the code I just use it on my accounts and don't buy what ever it was I needed the isk for (capital ship replacements). GO RED WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

This pretty much... my daily isk cost per play hour won't change all that much so I'll still be purchasing the GTC for all accounts. |
