Where can you see conversion rates for money from USD- whatever they use?

I got the shirt from the EVE store on this site and as far as currency exchange I would do it there instead of here. Either at the Reykjavik airport or the hotel. The current rates can be found http://www.xe.com/ucc/ just convert USD to Iceland Kronur. That doesn't show exactly what you'll get though since most places that do the exchange take some for the effort. I'm planning on just using plastic over there most of the time and letting my bank charge me a fee. I do believe you can use your bank card at ATMs there and then your bank just charges you a fee for conversion when you pull the money. But I would check with your bank to see how much that fee is, it can be pretty nasty.

As far as bank cards go, its pretty much down to your card issuer whether it will work overseas. cards bearing the cirrus or maestro logos will work in a lot of places, visa and mastercard are pretty much your best bet, theyre global, and insured.
Insofar as exchanging currency, if you can find a place to exchange that doesnt charge massive commission (most places in uk for example charge very little or none) then its generally preferable to change your money there, the exchange rates are visible, all your cash is changed at the same rate, and any fee is a one off.
Banks can and do charge a fee for every transaction, plus a commission on exchange, and the rate you get from them may not neccesarily be the best one. add to that itll vary daily, so rates might get worse over the course of a trip.
From personal experience, having travelled rather extensively, I wont travel without enough currency to survive for a couple of days, this covers me against losing my wallet or not being able to find a cashpoint. I also like to travel with currency for any area an aircraft would reasonably expect to divert to (for weather/mech failure etc)
ie; travelling to africa id carry whatever currency my target city used, plus euros, as a european destination would be the most likely stopover.
Its down to personal preference of course, but take it from me being stuck in a strange country with only the clothes your stood up in ****ing sucks. (even more so when theyre gabbling some heathen foreign lingo ;) )
*EDIT
OMG OMG OMG ITS GETTING NEARER!!!!!!1!
cant wait, flights booked, accomodation sorted, and veto blob preparations are well in hand. w1n!

Hi All
I am planning to join the Fanfest.
But some questions about it... (Not sure if CCP official will read this and answer :P)
1. Any schedule of Fanfest? Want to spend the sometime to visit Ice-land 2. Any local tour will be provided? Or I just add tour package to when purchasing Iceland Air package?

Keep the three fanfest days free, you'll want to be there non stop to get the full winsauce feeling. Other than that, most local excursion companies operate daytrips, leaving in the morning, returning about 6pm so you should be fine travelling to most places.
I highly reccomend seeing the southern coast, some of the scenery is breathtaking... also The Blue Lagoon is a good way to relax away a really violent hangover

Hi All
I have bought the Fanfest Pass. I also found the "Sister of EVE Program" is interesting. Do I just need to register when I get there with my EVE pass only?
Thanks

I'll be there, flying up from Down Under, via DK. This is all assuming that Icelandair survives Iceland's financial situation, or travel insurance might just cover a 2 week break in Copenhagen instead!

Will this affect fanfest 08 in any way? Is it worth changing money into Kr=na atm? Are Euros accepted in Iceland?

I can confirm that there will be plenty of partying, it seems like us icelanders have decided to forget the crisis during weekends, as all bars and clubs have been packed the last few weeks :)
Although it would have been nice to buy the ticket for the fanfest on last years rate, for us "lucky" enough to live here
I will probably buy a ticket at the last possible moment, hoping the exchange rate will get better

Okay, I have a small problem. Turns out all the UK banks, travel agents and the post office have stopped ordering ISK (the real ones) because of this minor sniffle the global economy seems to have caught. I've been trying all week to find somewhere to get my Kronur from, without success.
Kinda sucks. If anyone has any advice, it'll be gladly accepted. -
