Right, help me out here.
I'm a new college graduate with a dual degree in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. Nice title, eh - maybe, but I don't have a job yet.
That's where you come in.
I'm trying to compile a list of companies in the field, and the US, who's sites I can look for jobs on. I already have a few large ones, but I need more options people! If someone really helps me out, I might give them a small present, but no promises .
So far I have...
Lockheed Martin Boeing Bell Helicopter Cessna Northrop Grumman Sikorsky Raytheon

Hmmm ... my problem here is that I can't recall which ones are left.
General Dynamics did a lot of stuff before the end of the cold war but I've no idea what they're doing now.
Rockwell built the B-1's and worked on the space shuttle but again I'm unsure of their current status.
Ryan was another company.
Beechcraft
Mooney
Piper
Leer
BAE
Aerospace Corporations
which includes
a List of United States Defense Contractors
Of course there might also be jobs available in the Government with NASA, Dept of the Navy, Dept of the Air Force.
They don't pay as well in the short term but tend to have more long term security and better benefits.
Mostly, college graduates go for the contractors and veterans join the government though it varies.
The Government also has some R&D facilities that actively recruit among college graduates.
DARPA
JPL
SPAWAR
That should keep you busy for a while ...

ps ... don't worry about any present. Just have fun. |

the aerospace companies listed are good firms. but the direction air travel is taking a dip, you might want to seriously consider civilan military positions(as long as you qualify for getting the right clearence), there is also NASA and its related divisions. NASA certainly isnt going anywhere anytime soon and they are even devloping a new space craft atm.

Maybe look at United Technologies? They're a big conglomerate of companies including Pratt and Whitney (jet engines iirc) and Sikorsky (helicopters).
If you wanted to move to Brazil you could try Embraer. :)

Scaled Composites LLC are actually now hiring. Burt Rutan is a very, very clever man, he's gonna take that company a long way.

Yes, this.
Most companies want experience compared to a degree nowadays. Work as a temp, stick to eating ramen noodles and drinking cheap beer for just a little longer. But do not take a temp job filing papers. Make sure you get some type of managerial/project work. You are almost there!
PS - I just got a job with Boeing and I have no degrees, but 8 years of operating experience on one of their products. I barely had an interview, they just said welcome. See what I mean?

Have you considered the military directly?
Airforce Research Lab Army Research Lab Office of Naval Research
Alternatly look at the non-conventional labs Sandia, Lawrence Livermore, Los Alamos etc.
Also if you can't get a job consider working for free. A mate of mine couldn't get work so he sent his CV round companies and said he'd work for them for free for a year. 6 months later he got a full time job and hasn't looked back.
