I spent ages training certain skills on Sisi to try out new stuff. Particularly the Rorqual as I have been skeptical about any industrial ship CCP release ever since the Freighter.
After nearly 25 days training the industrial skills that are pre-req to the Industrial Reconfiguration etc, I noticed that Sisi was down. When it finally came back up, the skills I had trained were back to what my TQ skills are again. In effect, 25 days of logging into Sisi when needed to update skills were totally wasted.
Would there be any possibility of CCP merging skills during a mirror from TQ to Sisi? I want to test drive certain ships before spending months training skills to arm, fly and utilise their capabilities effectively, not to mention spending mega amounts of isk to buy them. Spending 3 weeks watching skills on Sisi as well as TQ, only to have them wiped on Sisi is not my idea of fun at all.

It isn't often CCP mirrors the test server. I suppose you just got unlucky with the timing. However, CCP specifically does not want people training things twice as fast on the test server; they want an equivalent of what is on TQ. |

What's the point of having the test server then? Many players didn't have anywhere near the skills to fly Blackops and Marauders etc when they were being tested. CCP may as well just deploy the patch untested and be done with it. That, in itself has probably been the main cause of so many patchday disasters.

The test server is so CCP can test patches and new content in a public environment before they're put live. Not so you can test stuff you don't have on TQ. |

Wrong. When new ships are released everybody gets given the skills needed to test them. Yes even the rorqual and its skills we're seeded to everybody before it went live on TQ. These skills where then revoked in the next mirror much like yours where.
Sisi is only Mirrored once every 3 months or so and this one was even announced in advance: see News items regarding FW testing week on sisi before it went live So looks like your stuck training for it again |

The point of the test server, i guess, is to give the possibility to players to try out setups and fittings which would cost them a lot in TQ.
EDIT: Anarchyyt gave a better explanation for the purpose of SiSi too.
As it's already said CCP doesn't mirror the DB regularly. Which means that you were unlucky choosing the timing. |

That's exactly not the purpose behind sisi, but a convenient sideffect that CCP essentially tolerates. The server is for gameplay testing and if something needs really broad testing, CCP trains the skills.
You just have to remember that, as a rule of thumb, the mirrors are rather long after an expansion and get shorter the closer another release gets.
