I'd love if it was confirmed, but i have my doubts about transferring KOTOR to a mmo arena... i just dont think it will hold up

SWG, take 2?
I loved KotOR series. But this, if true, is going to be, and I am sorry for using the term, a WoW clone.
Rationale: Name me one MMOG which, while based on popular franchise, didn't turn out to be same-old-same-old in a shiny package.

i really hope this is fabricated, i really do. Kotor 1 & 2 (still waiting for team gizka to finish >.<) where amazing games but making it into an online world would ruin it. For me anyway :P.

Me being a KOTOR lover (one of the reasons why I actually spent real money on Mass Effect ) and ex-SWGer, I am really hoping they do this. But. That's if they don't make it a WoW-clone and don't repeat the mistakes of SWG. I have faith that Bioware will do it right, and they might do something fresh in terms of game play.
But if I hear SOE gets involved at all...forget it. Possibly LucasArts as well. Bad enough EA bought out Bioware but I think EA are learning from their mistakes and will let Bioware run free.
/me keeps fingers crossed.

The problem with KOTOR is it was never the kind of RPG that you could translate into a MMORPG and still keep true to it. - it was party based - combat was tactical/turn based (well you would pause it and give orders to your party) - the gameplay was storyline driven and farily liniar/not a very big gameworld
None of these translate well into a MMO. And it will be weird having 2 Starwars MMOs around, why can't they just work to fix SWG.

KOTR is probably the only thing that could get me to play an MMORPG(I don't consider eve to be a true RPG in the sense of other games), ever.
But they would probably screw it up anyways.

Since it is bioware I have some hope.. but kotor was great for the storyline. MMO will mean doing the same quests that everyone has done before .etc
or they could do a sorta eve style thing where missions are more on the side.

Edited by: Atomos Darksun on 15/06/2008 22:24:10 On a side note, there's been a "kotor MMO" in "development" for years now.
