Bootcamps a lovely option, before you think on quitting the game consider this option tbh.
Im downloading the PC Premium client and ill let you know how I get on in this thread.
Like many I endured the consistent crashes that could only be fixed my restarting my system. Now were into the Emperium and the crashes have gone only to be replaced (for me) by 5/10 min load ins and sometime straight freezes of the game.
lets see how I fair now with bootcamp
rant over )

Edited by: Brutuus Mortuus on 15/06/2008 19:02:02 I rather quit computers generally before I install a windows on my mac, for whatever program.
edit: btw, just downloading windows client and then staying "mute" on the topic wont actually fix the problems in the mac client or help players. I prefer sticking to the mac client and going on the nerves of ccp until they do something or shut the whole thing down. I want results, not a workaround. [GHUC] Home: http://crescentmoon.de/eve |

Edited by: Nodasco on 16/06/2008 06:55:33 Well,
I have also tried this. I have Windows XP on this computer as well. I downloaded premium and tried it out and wow! 130+ fps with premium graphics and highest settings. This is much better than my 15-40 on the mac client with the normal graphics.
So what's bad? Eve confuses windows xp and causes the computer to simply restart after a few minutes. No error messages, nothing.
I'm working on a solution, but I would rather use the mac client. I boot up in OS X instead of XP for a reason. I would much rather see the mac client improve rather than me fix the XP problem. I really hope the mac client starts to shape up, or at least just crash less.

Edited by: Maxidemtrix on 16/06/2008 13:05:22 Well all is well here, I've moved over to the Premium PC client with 0 problems, my Macbook Pro is screaming along with XP and tbh until I see the Premium client surface for the Mac I wont be returning to the Mac client. Yea it is sad that the Mac client is not getting updated fast enough or the Premium client for Mac is not even getting addressed on these forums by CCP.
Bottom line is I wanna play the game without freezing out or crashing consistently and getting far better graphics is a bonus. Booting into XP via bootcap is a viable workaround for Mac users and while it does not address the problems of playing Eve-online natively in OSX it does let you play EVE to its full potential and after all enjoying the game unhindered is paramount.
*eidt* Also its worth noting that little graphical errors like having the star field around you replaced by random graphics from your systems cache and graphic errors in the map and mission pictures are now a thing of the past for me, more than a little annoying.
