I had a skill ending last night at 11 PM. I just realized this morning that I had forgotten that the skill training was done, and now i've got a good 12 hours before i can get home and turn on something else.

You know, thats not the end of the world. It sucks, but still. But I agree, some way of queuing even just the next skill would be awesome. - - - -

Having to do the 'skill ending dance' really stinks too.
"ok, this ends right now at 5 AM, so i gotta stop that and run this other one for 9 hours, then go back to the 1st, and then run this 3rd skill for 3 hours to get the 2nd one done when i will be home...."

I've yet to have a problem keeping a skill going 100% of the time but this post is wrong. You're basicly calling everyone with low memory an idiot, anyone that has to rush to the hospital or to a friend's aid an idiot, and more. You do realize that low memory isn't some people's fault? Illness or age can cause it as well.

My memory sucks donkey dingies but you don't see me complaining, eh. Just don't be an idiot, ALWAYS check your skills before you shut the game off, and if there's something more important like my kid going to the hospital I wouldn't even care if I'd lose a Mothership for that reason.

This.
Also, EVEMon.
Ninjaedit: Real life always come first, of course. I'd call you stupid if you (no, not you in the quote, the other one) logged in to EVE to change skill if your kid needed to go to the hospital. And it's whiners that complain about perfectly fine game features that ruins the game when they convince CCP to do something stupid. I said it before the LP store was introduced, and I still say it: It is a stupid feature, and the ones whining about it is even more stupid. If you don't believe me, look what's happened to the implant and faction ship prices. --- Lasiverin Dark > Is everyone here allied? I'm fine with it as it is. Really I am, not complaining at all but it's still a big stretch to call someone stupid. It's very easy for someone to put up a skill before bed but then forget to log onto the game some time afterwards. Your memory sucks but there's also illnesses that can make one's memory far worse than a healthy person's memory can ever be.
In this case, I doubt it's that. As I said, my memory is bad but I've never even been close to forgetting about a skill. There's still other factors involved that needs to be considered before you just label everyone that forgets a skill "stupid."
*Edit* I'd also like to state that I like the current system as it is.

Wish it would happen, but if it was meant to be, I'm sure it would have happened already. This issue is probably older than Eve itself. __________________________________________________

So you lost 12+ hours of skill training, and that's a appalling thing why?
There will be plenty more time to get that shiny new ship/gun/missile/mining laser/drone/etc.

How noble of you, sacrificing a mothership for the safety of a child =p No sane person would lose a Titan for their kid though.

And why would that be? You care more for pixels than for your own kid? Set your obligations straight; I'm addicted to EvE but not in the way that it takes over my life in the sense that you just portrayed.

I hope they don't implement this. People will just quit playing instead of having downtime with the "log in, train skill, log out" disease.

This. Now, if a skill finished at 3 in the morning, I'll wake up at 0630 as per normal and start a new one. A few hours here and there don't worry me half as much as it used to! -- 2d EveMaps My blog

I would just switch before logging off, that and I never seem to remember to even look at evemon/eve when waking up.
been doing a lot of long skills and well, i barely even check when logging off. missed a few hours here and there, and a few 12ish hour gaps

I'll have to agree with the above statement, when the skills you're training start stretching into days and weeks instead of minutes/hours, losing some training becomes more of a... "o well", kind of thing.
I've lost up to a few days of training time in one due to being busy with other things in my life then gaming, in the long run who cares really, you're still progressing and the longer you play the smaller a precentage of your overall subscription time any gaps in your training will become.
Besides real life must come above a game, so sometimes it simply isn't viable to change skills to train.

A queue of just *1* skill would suffice for me, and I don't think would help macro-ers very much.
Just want to be able to have a long skill on backup in case I go away, or eve is down or something.

There was an idea I came across about a percentage split; so 20 day skill gets 20% of sp and a few hour skill gets 80% until it finishes. Always thought that was a good idea. The amount of times I've gone 'Ahhh just one more' having sleeply retired thinking I've set a long one going. Only to arise with much profanity

Isn't it possible to change skills using the API? But then again, EULA problems... Ah well, it's better than having to slash enemies all the time to get XP like in World of Warcraft.

True.
This is the single most called for missing feature (besides the annoying "zomg nerf nanos!!11eleven" from the caldari faction who thought that "mean looking avatar means mean looking e-peen and stuff" or so... ).
Dual training, short or long queue, whatever.
Really... one of my characters has a real load of 6 - 7 hour skills to train now... and always logging in to train a bit of this and a bit of that just because of an annonying design flaw is extremely annoying.
Nothing gets completed, I have so many skill at 50% just because of that... can't imagine what one of my younger alts could already do in this game if CCP would not be so ignorant about this issue.
/SIGNED!
@CCP come on! Next patch notes should read like this:
"Skill training queue was implemented by popular request. You can have now 2 subsequent skills training."
Imagine going to work, coming home and having EM armor compensation IV and Thermal armor compensation IV ready... now, on one of my alts, both are at 50% and I have to train stupid stuff I can't even use at the moment.
