Im ready to make my choice of Ammarr interceptor. Given the proposed changes to Missiles and frigates they now seem a better deal than b4 where any frigate with Cruise was going to waste them without even blinking.
So which of the 2 types are my fellow Ammarrians favouring at the moment. Which is best and how much am i looking at to get one.
Ps im at work so dont gimmie grief for not checking the in game markets lol

There's no need to check the markets, just contact BigBanjo or Hardin in game, and they'll sell you a lovely Malediction. Discounts are available if you have a good Amarr faction rating, and you get a free slave with every order...
Full details here:
The amazing advanced Malediction Interceptor with 3 high, 3 med and 3 low slots is now available from Amarr loyalist Corporation PIE Inc.
The Malediction features a 25% bonus for Small laser turrets and 10% bonus to its signature (making it harder to lock) with every level of the Interceptor skill trained.
Discounts are available for those Amarr who can demonstrate good Amarr Empire standing.
This amazing Interceptor is being offered with four different payment options:
Deal 1: BYOC 2x
Bring along 2 x the required components for the Malediction (see the list at the bottom of this post), and you can fly around with your very own Malediction.
Deal 2: BYOC + ISK
Simply bring along all the needed components and 2.0 million ISK to receive your state-of-the-art Interceptor.
Deal 3: ISK Only
We are offering a limited number of Maledictions for only 5.5 million ISK (to non-Minmatar).
Amarr pilots who can demonstrate a +5 Amarr Empire standing will also obtain a 500,000 isk discount with an additional 100,000 isk discount for each additional point of Amarr standing i.e. +6 = 600,000 isk discount, +7 = 700,000 isk discount etc.
Deal 4: Market Purchase
A limited number of Malediction Interceptors will be made available on the market in the Kador region. As we cannot guarantee these will not be sold to Minmatar's and other enemies of PIE Inc these will be priced at 8 million isk. (So if you are not a Minmatar or enemy of PIE you would be better coming direct to us and saving 2 million isk).
Malediction Component List:
Please note that the PIE Inc. is supplying the "lower" minerals, the Executioner, the RAM and the construction blocks for your convenience.
You only need to provide the T2 components and the high level ores.
30 Antimatter Reactor Units 40 Fusion Thrusters 25 Linear Shield Emitters 20 Nanoelectrical Microprocessors 20 Radar Sensor Clusters 30 Rolled Mexalite Armor Plates 25 Tesseract Capacitor Units 10 Megacytes 06 Morphites 32 Zydrines
Please contact BigBanjo of PIE Inc by EVE mail if you wish to order one of these fine ships. He will instruct you on where to bring all materials and components.
For further information and ordering inquiries, please contact BigBanjo or Hardin.
The orders will be processed strictly on a first come, first serve basis and further priority will be given to those interested in the BYOC deals.

The choice really depends on what role you intend to use it for.
The difference between the two boils down to trading a mid slot on the Malediction for a high slot on the Crusader. That lets the Crusader pack more punch, where the Malediciton has more flexibility in support roles. The Crusader also tends to be more survivable.
A close range Crusader setup with a webbifier should be able to shred Minmatar and Caldari ships with ease; their higher EM damage output will cut their shields apart much faster. Kitting longer range lasers with a 20km warp disrupter will let you shred them from outside webbifier range; it will be harder to keep this setup in your optimal range, and you may need tracking enhancers to boost your optimal some.
For Maledictions, it's all about the midslots. They work excellent for being able to dash in, web and scramble a target, and get out of harm's way before taking much damage. It's a true interceptor, built to pin a larger vessel so the big boys can kill it.
Hope this helps. |

They're both pretty decent as a part of a mixed fleet, and the look sexy too!
I'd say the biggest selling point of the malediction is it's extra mid-slot.
What Vesk said seems like pretty reasonable advie to me, too.

I'd say Maledicition for general use. The Crusader can be a bit of a bugger to fit also.

I have the crusader and saying its a bugger to fit is an understatement, its hell! but I have two fits now that I'm rahter happy with, havent tested it yet though. Also because of the limitations if you know what you can fit on a crusader then whenever you see a crusader you know what they have because its very hard to fit something different from this single fit

So no one really recommends the Crusader. The extra gun slot not really worth it due to the limited med slots? I used to flying a Punisher or Tristan frigate, so am i gonna find the Malediction more to my kiling?

just buy both and see what suits you, you cant be told which ship your going to comfortabl flying its all upto the person who's at the helm. "Botehred" Omen (Bad Omen I-X ) (R.I.P) Maller (Unnameable I) (R.I.P) Typhoon (Red Dwarf I) (R.I.P) Tempest (Reighous Endvor) (R.IP)

the 4 high slots are nice, but the 4 turrets are useless, impossible to fit propper guns on it, but 3 turrets and a smartbomb and you are good

Is it best to use longer range lasers on a crusader? I predict using short range against a Taranis will result in a quick, painful battle.

No, The malediction AND the crusader have enough HP to survive a full volley from a crow even if they dont use smartbombs (which they should).

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure I killed a crusader with 1 volley from a breacher. I'll work out the math and try to figure out how that happened.
Edit:
I'm under the impression that damage that bleeds over from shields to armor isn't reresisted at the armor levels. Assuming that and this...
The missile boat pilot has CM trained to level 4 or higher, and manages to get a paradise to hit before a devastator and then any other cruise missile
AND
the Crusader pilot is running a MWD, and either has hull upgrades at or below level 1 or they are running a nanofiber, a single volley kill can happen. With the Malediction, the numbers are even more forgiving. with both mechanic and hull upgrades at level 4, the damage still destroys the Mal.

4 medium modulated pulse fits nicely (or a mix of modulated pulse/beams).

I pilot both the Crusader and the Malediction and can safely recommend both.
I am particularily fond of the Crusader though, as a dogfighter it truly excels. Its a match for any frigate out there easily, and fitting woes? Not with the right skills and setup ;) ----------------------------------------------

Another question related to the same conversation. Whats the opinion on weapons fit. Is it worth sticking to Energy or am i as well looking to fit Blasters or Projectiles to the ship.
I know i`ll lose the race bonus, but if i face a blaster equiped ship im mincemeat even with Multi Freq crystals. Whats your advice folks?

i recently aquiered the skills for a crusader, and the ship itself. im loving it, its quick, but it is difficult to fit. im training to get aux power cores, because the crusader does have one more small slot over the malediction, and with that you could fit a few good lasers, rather than 1 or 2 good ones and 2-3 bad ones.
oh and make sure you have some named lasers. i have a friend who fitted a crusader w/ 2 blaseters, and beat my setup in a fight, but at that time,i didn't have mwds. if we fight again, ill post an account of our setups and what happednd. i reccomend the crusader, but i havent yet puchaced a maledicion. --- 'Sweeden Steel Bite hard'
