Ah, I wasen't aware he did any of that. I saw his first post and his last one. Most of the people insulting him were quoting his first post. It seems I messed up, in that case, fire away. :P
*Edit* I thought it was someone else but I see what you mean. A few replies in he made the comment "But isn't there some other word for men 'roleplaying' as girls." I apologize for trying to defend the wrong person.
That was after a few 'those' replies. So I decided to throw a little bit back. But I believe I made a little recovery in my latest post.

I feel sorry for the guy. He must be very desperate to try to pick up random "girls" online that he knows absolutely nothing about.

Is that something you need to ask why about?

Who said it bothered me? Oh thats right you assumed it bothered me merely because I asked "Why?" You didn't work with Miss Cleo did you, such deep understanding of people with such little information to work off of. You need to ease up on the hateraid. Try cutting down to just two glasses a day.
At any rate, interesting responses. I just wanted to get a birds eye view of the whole thing since all the guys in my gaming group had all the same answers.
Ok fair enough. My reaction came from the usual attitudes that people that have shown when making these sorts of threads before (e.g. "people who play as female characters must closest transvestites/bi curious/wierd or some equalling stupid thing"). Since your OP only contained "Why?" I didn't have any context to judge it with so just went with past experience.

I was about to go with a flame myself, but then I felt my post above was quite appropriate in of itself.
I guess I have Forum Flame Control Measures trained to level 4 quite early on. I even had the it typed up and ready then I paused for a minute.

Naturally to even it out the game is supplied with both female and male characters. We went over the stats and what not and started some chat. We then came upon the whole male playing as female deal. And the three of us were all without a doubt on the never pick a chick deal. Something about it seems a little creepy. Ok, it is role playing. But isn't there that other word for when guys want to 'roleplay' as women
If this is not a troll, which i think it is, then I think there are two things wrong with you. you are too judgmental and you assume too much.

hahhah, have you ever played a paper and dice RPG game? Have you ever GMed the game where the only person that was really into playing the role was the only guy that ALWAYS,ALWAYS had to play a female character? I'll tell you that it can be kinda awkward especially if they are trying to get a male NPC to do what he(playing the "she") wants.
"Dude....just roll the dice for a seduction test"
After a while i just started tossing in female NPCs that were into the female character. kinda put the awkwardness in their court.
In paper and dice games i never used a female character. In Eq2 i had a female avatar and designed her after an anime character down to the green hair. Why? Like someone said on page 1 "if your going to be staring at an avatar all day ,might as well make it something you want to look at" or at least as close as to what youd want to look at due to graphical limitations.
Now if you think guys that actually role play girls is creepy(which i agree is creepy), what about the guys that hit on them? Or even just hit on anyone with a female avatar ? Yes females are out there gaming just like the guys but rarely can you pick out the differences in just a minute of talking. Theres zero chance of knowing BEFORE you talk to the person controlling the avatar!

Edited by: Arkios Odymei on 20/06/2008 23:32:46 I dont really care whether people use male or female avatars, cause in the end, its still just a game.
I am male and personaly almost always use male avatars in games (on extreme occasion i will use female), as I suppose I feel more of a connection to the character that way. Honestly, Ive never really thought about it much, as it was just naturaly what I'd do.
One thing I do hate about males using female avatars is this "if i have to look at the back side of an avatar all day, I'd rather it to be a sexy girls" excuse. Seriously that is so lame. Regardless of male or female, they are all pixles! I you want to get off, go find yourself a real girfriend or short of that, go find some images of real women on the internet (aka- pr0n) lol... dont choose an in-game character for that reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------

No one ever mentioned they were going to be giving the chicken the strangulation of a lifetime while playing a game. sure there was a vid on the tube about some guy spankin it to his night elf in wow but really how many people do?
Its a boredom thing. I know ive worked at places where the chicks werent the hottest thing around but i know i ended up checking them out a lot. why? because i was bored and stuck at work and couldn't just call in some hot chicks or get access to some pron. one of those chicks...well she was beyond milf age but man that body, just didn't want to look her at her face though you could tell she used to extremely hot in the past. once i got out of work would i check out the chicks from my job compared to other chicks? hell no...cept the one with the nice rack..mmmm.....but she was hot in or out of work.
So unless you got a chick, which lets face it if you do you have less time to game, your going to be reaching for the jpgs, mpegs and dvds. But if you use your comp for everything your not going to be able to check that out while gaming so the female avatar will have to do.
As i said its creepy when someone tries to RP that they are a girl. i have no problems with guys picking female avatars just to have something "female" to look at while they game. not check out, just if your going to have something in front of you for hours on end.
Hell lets put it this way. If in RL you were stuck sitting in a chair for 5hours(likely more) to simulate gaming, would you prefer some dude's butt directly in front of you or would you prefer a chick that meets your specifications for hot to have her butt in your face? Me, i'd go with the chick having her butt directly in front of me for hours. If you choose otherwise...welll......you might just be jelous of what the chick is wearing. hahaahh.

I often chose female characters, since I figure if I am going to have to stare at something day in and day out, it might aswell be visually appealing. --

Edited by: Tommy Reslin on 21/06/2008 00:17:11 Edited by: Tommy Reslin on 21/06/2008 00:15:48 I said before that it's fine to play a female avatar but I have yet to play a game where the camera is positioned right at the character's ass. I wonder, how do people see well enough to play such games? Or is the ass staring the only aspect of the game? I'm rather curious myself. When I play games that are third person view I find that I'm more staring at the back of the character's head, the back, or more likely the world around and in front of the character.
Then again, I don't look at pron. I never have. I never "checked" girls out either. Nothing wrong with doing those things but I only see such parts as either lumps of flesh or a place where one urinates, ****s, or a part that's used in the process of baby making. I understand I'm not the norm but this is why I have no desire to play a female avatar.
I play male characters without "Staring at their ass." I play them because they're easier to roleplay or relate to. It's just getting irritating when people keep saying "Who's ass would you rather look at." because the answer is neither. I don't want to stare at something that gas or bowel movements pass from.
Sex can feel good, no doubting that. It's just I feel there's very little (basicly none) point in looking at parts because there's nothing really appeasing to look at. I just don't get the entertainment. Humanity is very strange indeed.
The reason for this post is that there seems to be a lot of assumption flying around that it's ideal for every guy to care about what kind of ass they're staring at or how attractive something is.
*Edit* Before anyone makes some comments such as "You must be a child." I'm 21 and engaged. Remember, everyone is different and are entitled to their own views.
