Only been doing 4's for a few days now, have been able to handle what's been thrown my way thus far, but I think I read that this mission is particularly hard? The payout/LP doesn't appear to be something that's particularly troublesome, but I'd rather error on the side of caution. Any advice from vets? I'm at about 2.5 mil SP, so I don't have all the goodies to save me arse like I should.

The payout is low because the mission is a cakewalk for good ships as everything is there right from the start so you can pwn them very fast.
For an inexperienced player with subpar SP and equipment the dps might be overwhelming though. The best advice I can give is to heavily tank therm (all the other reists too though) and kill Zor as soon as possible.
Make suicide ganking more difficult!

no scraming frigs. So warp in, kill a few things and then warp out if you can't handle the damage at first.

warp in align to a planet/gate move away at max speed shooting as you go. Zor drops hard wiring implant and a gate key as I recall.

Those don't aggro though unless you launch drones or attack them/get too close.

Yea ive seen a few posts saying this mission is hard, a topic listed it as one of the toughest lvl 4's lol. Whoever posted such nonsense must have had no clue whatsoever 
Very easy mission, as previous poster said. Thermal tank and kill Zor if you are at all worried

It's very easy if you keep distance. Since it doesn't have a gate, warp out, and back in at 50k. From there it's a walk in the park.

Never noticed that before. Since they won't come after you right away don't make'em mad till later.

Those only aggro you if you attack them. They lay in wait for you to launch drones, then they aggro the drones, not you. I believe they'll aggro your friends, if you bring some.

I just started doing level 4 missions. I feel like a total newbie with totally inadequate skills for battleships. However, I have about 8M skillpoints. I think you may have jumped the gun a bit.

Not a hard mission at all, if you want a hard mission try serp/gurista with a damage ship and no knowledge that the gurista spy on the gurista spy causes who room agro with almost certainly 1 to 3 warp scrammers. not hard if your over tanked but I tank about 410 dps since I like using 3 bcu.
Another mission I have found tricky is serp blockade second spawn, since you have to wait until all the dampers are in range before you can kill any of the damage. But this is purely my fitting and I wouldn't change it.
some info on your ship type and fitting would be useful btw
