Trial accounts are currently being used as unstoppable scouting bots.
The proposed changes to intelligence gathering will only inflate their importance, use.
Strict restriction upon trials is required.
Trials should be unable to leave highsec,
Trials should be unable to view, access the market.
Trials should be unable to use text or voice chat. (Special exception for Newbie Help)
Trials should be unable to set standing or join, form corporations.
While harsh this would prevent the current exploitation of CCP's trial program.

Trial accounts are a great way to get people into the game, and, having them as full-featured as possible makes paying up a lot easier. It worked for me!
Nerfing trial accounts probably won't solve the issue with which you are concerned as any account can create and delete one or two alts for the same purpose. IMHO Remember: They're only pixels; it's not real money; it's supposed to be fun! |

So essentially Trial accounts should be limited to sitting on their couch in their captain's quarter? |

I don't know anyone who uses trial accounts for scouting.
You do know you cannot have a trial account logged in at the same time as any other account right? |

No actually he's right.
I think Trial accounts nowadays have to much influence. At least, the shouldn't leave 0.5 and shouldn't be able to join corps, regarding the market and chat channels, well I would never join EVE if I saw that I could only use one ship and didn't have a market.
You should be able to use the market and talk anyway. imho

lol!
I was actually thinking that trials should be replaced with basic account, they are only limited to certain ships and skills etc, that would make um even more P O W E R F U L lmao! |

This seems to be an acceptable compromise. There is no reason to have a under 21-day character in the nullest of securities. |

I wouldn't have stuck with EVE past the trial if I hadn't been recruited in a corporation. |

Dumb thread. You can't run a trial account with more than 1 client open, making it useless for scouting unless you run it on a separate computer. People don't use trials for scouting. They create a throwaway char on one of their accounts and use those. Is your scout getting too well known? Biomass it and start another. That simple.
So by your logic CCP should also nerf alt toons on the same account, because those are technically more powerful than trial accounts since you can run multiple.... |

Semi wrong..
A trial account will not allow you to have any other clients open on your pc..
Ofc, if you have another pc operating right next to you, well then, I guess your argument would be valid.
Odds are is that its a subscribed second account. |

If I am actually worried about scouting I don't go and start a trial account. Since you cannot run a full account and a trial account at the same time. I just log in 1 of my alts/chars on my 2nd account and use that. In a week I can have a fully trained Cyno alt , or have a char cloaking in about 2 weeks max of training.
Sounds like OP couldn't catch a tasty ship and needs to complain.

It is already impossible to use a trial account from the same IP address as any other EVE account, paid or not.
So if someone is using a trial account, this means that they can NOT be on their main at the same time (proxy shenanigans notwithstanding). |

I can think of a good reason: They want to go. Why should a new player who's interested in Null-sec NOT be allowed to go have a look? Further, why would a trial player scouting your positions be any different than a three or four year old player doing it?

I dunno, maybe cap how much money a trial guy can transfer as a disposable RMT proxy, that might be wise.

Actually, if you don't have 2 comps, you could just run one client in a vm or even some windows compatibility mode...
(But I agree - why run a trialaccount or an untrained alt if you can use an NPC corp probing alt in a cov ops...).

When did they implement that? I know that it used to work, but it's been a couple of years... morons are recruiting. You know who you are! |
