Hello forum. I am super noob. I just starting playing eve about 2 weeks ago and I am still learning many new things.
I choose Gallente and I'm all happy and dandy with my catalyst destroyer, but it it is time for a new ship. I have been saving up my moneys and I'm at 30 million now. It only took me about 5 days to get that much. I realize the next step up would be buying a Cruiser, but I'm skipping it. I'm going straight to battle cruiser. From what I can understand is that there are three BCs per race: A cheap one for about 30mil, a drone one for about 40mil, and a BC that uses heavy turrets for about 60-70mil. I are nub plz help. I don't mind what race really, I'm trained into galente right now but i can train the others too. I have been saving up for the expensive one, but is it worth it? |

One very important rule and one that you should always follow in this game is do not fly what you can't afford to lose. So to answer your question if you can't afford to lose your bc then don't fly it The vexor and thorax are two very capable ships when it comes to pvp. I'm sure they're decent for pve too. They are a step up from a catalyst and will show you how the myrmidon and brutix fly as well. I would stay in a destroyer/ cruiser until level 3 missions then move on to the bc hulls to take those on effectively. |

Welcome to the game.
If you're running missions which it sounds like you are, getting into a BC early on is a good idea IMO. However, if I were you I would wait a little longer, get some more skills trained up before you hop into the BC. Get yourself into a cruiser for now, keep slammin out missions or whatever you do, once you get your cruiser sized weapon skills and some tanking skills then get a BC and bust some lvl 3's or whatever.
Even better advice: Forgo the missions running crap(unless that's what you want to do) and get yourself into a newb friendly pvp corp/alliance. Newb friendly meaning they can help you with the finance side of things as well as gameplay. Evemail me if you'd like some recommendations along those lines. |

Don't go that way all on your own.
Find a corp and listen to the people, who figured out how to do things right (if they have) and ask. You have no idea what you're doing right now and how long it will actually take to fly a ship right, skillwise and tacticwise.
My Main started out as Gallente, too and after 4 Weeks I sat in a ridiculously underskilled Dominix and flew level 4 Missions which took forever or couldn't be finished alone at all. I regret that.
You should be able to fit your ship with T2 mods before you start to fly it. You should also have the Shipskill itself at 4, better 5.
Stick with one race and train it untill you really know what you're doing.
Best Mission BC:
Drake > Myrmidon > Harbinger / Hurricane
Vexor or Thorax are fine for Level 2/3, but you should decide whether you like drones or guns more and stay with one and later train the other, while you must train small drones T2 to kill enemy Frigates in Level 4 missions later...
The vexor is a Droneboat while Thorax is focused on guns. I'd recommend putting 70% of your "Weapon SP" in drones and 30% in guns, if you go for a Dominix later. |

If you plan on running missions the Drake is the way to go, but keep in mind training up the drake means training all of the shield and missile skills that are required to use it properly so I hope your skill plan (if present) will be able to accommodate such a drastic change.
If you would like to minimize training times I would suggest getting a myrm for what you need to do. It's an interesting ship and is very flexible in fitting allowing you to do all sorts of crazy things with it like double, even triple local repairers! If you go the route of the myrm you can save a lot of training time but if you really want to maximize your profits you will have to invest in the time and money for the caldari line up. |

Don-¦t skip you cruiser, it-¦s 4 to 6 million and you can run lvl 2 missions a lot faster in them than in a frigate.
that will give you enough money to go for a BC, remeber that most modules you use on your cruiser you can use on your BC later on, forget about the Tier 3 (most expencive) cruisers those are PvP ships and rather top end.
The tier 2 (second most expecive) is usualy the best option for mission.
look arround for a nice PvE fit to start with find out which skills are usefull for them and focus training on that.
The Drake is the King of PvE BC's though it would take, refocusing on shield and Missiles that is about all Young Galante pilots usualy don't have.

Vexor is about 5-6mill for the hull. This is my signature. There are many like it but this one is mine! |

My opinion: Get in a cruiser first, get used to them. When you can mount tech II hardeners, basic rigs, applicable gunnery to at least IV and Drones to V then look at the BC for missions. Going in sooner could result in some expensive mistakes (or at least repairs). Plus cruisers are actually not bad. I skipped them when I went up the ranks of ships and eventually went back to see what I missed, I missed a lot. I don't always finish my commentary, but when I do |

Basically like everyone said - dont skip cruisers. They teach you how to fly BC. Losing a BC is expensive for a new player, and can basically wipe you out.
Gunship line is Thorax - Brutix - Megathron/Hype
Drone line is Vexor - Myrmidon - Dominix
Choose the style you like best, and train for those. I would recommend the drone line for newer players.
And make sure you can at least use a t2 tank and some kind of sentry drones before you try level 4s in Dominix. Just my opinion.
Good luck.
I also suggest Eve University or a similar teaching corp. If it wasnt for EUNI, I probably would have quit the game pretty early. Eve is a harsh mistress. |
