I would like to ask for an apprenticeship in auditing.
Simply stated:
I would like to perform audits for bond / IPOs with the oversight of a seasoned auditor from the forum.
I propose that a bond or IPO that is submitted for audit, be audited by me, and then the results turned over to a seasoned auditor (e.g. Shar, etc.) for review. I would not release my findings directly.
This will provide credibility for me (which I am seeking) and offer a valuable resource to the EVE Industrial community - and specifically the MD forums.
I am not seeking any 'first right of refusal' rights for audits I perform - this is not a ploy to be first in line.
I genuinely wish to give and receive from EVE - and I believe this is where I can.
I am a Director of IT and PMO with a budgeting background in Information Technology in R/L - I believe it will be of value here.
Anyone willing to take me under their wing?
Warm Regards.

CAOD is 90% ****-posts and general is a bad joke so why are you wasting time here attacking pyramid quotes and email addresses?

SoleDeo, I suggest you set up your own auditing firm and offer your services. You probably won't get rich on the kind of fees you could get, but since you're looking for an apprenticeship I think you're not in this for the money. Rather than learn from one existing auditor, you could just start into it yourself, with a fresh perspective. I wanted to do this a while back when my EVE time was cut back. Then it got cut back some more and I didn't even have time for this! Anyway, I'd like to see professional auditors in EVE, and many competing firms with different specialties. Good luck!

If CCP implements the Riethe sponsored idea of multi access API keys, this idea would be awesome. However as the system currently stands it becomes a case of redundant to have more than one kind of auditor. (That being the one full api key giving access to everything. Having specialists means giving out full access to many, a concept that I'm sure makes us all cringe.)

Anas,
thanks for the perspective and advice.
Hexxx and I are attempting to hook up and I would feel more comfortable getting an audit or two under my belt first - but I like your idea a lot - sounds more fun than mission running - wait - what?

Well to be quite honest it is not a crowded a field. It is far better, imnsho, that those of us who are interested, in doing this kind of thing, to work together as much as possible. (No one is going to get rich doing providing this kind of service however working together we can hope to avoid someone getting rich by deception.)

I agree.
Being a standards guy, one of the first things that will emerge from my audits will be a reporting template, a toolbox for analyzing the data (e.g. EMMA, EVE Asset Manager, EVEMon, etc.) and a requirements document.
Establishing best practices among the auditors will serve to streamline the auditing process, increase the productivity of the auditors and engender faith and trust in the secondary markets / investment community.
As I am sure each auditor already has a set of tools they use, I am hoping my relationship with Hexxx will remove some of the duplication that will inevitably occur.

I can vouch for the fact that his background is accurate. I've had some conversations with SoleDeo and while everyone has their judgment and comfort when it comes to trust...I can say that I feel that SoleDeo is trustworthy enough to audit.
He has the right mindset and attitude to do the job.

If he is who he says he is that very easy to check. As a real estate professional my name is all over the web so checking me to my name would be fairly easy. I'm not sure if they took the time to do this but if they did then I'm sure he wouldn't scam when people know his real name.

1. 90+% of this player base is an adult by legal standards. The rest are over 13 and playing under the 'supervision' of their parents. Does CCP really think some moderator earing minimum wage on a frozen chunk of volcanic rock in the middle of nowhere is 'protecting' us in any meaningful way about the dangers online? Tis a joke by any stretch of the imagination.
2. We supply CCP with our personal information, addresses and credit card numbers. With their employees track record and the recent leaking of game code I think the REAL risk is not a shared personal email address in these forums. Rather the potential for something MUCH more sinister to happen to information that could potentialy destroy your financial reputation forever.

1. Anyone can reverse engineer python code. It's not a leak, it was spun by people who want to look important, but there's nothing new there.
2. When it comes to being a company, some of their policies may not make very much sense to the common man...but they are there for a reason. Ever stopped to consider that they have moderation policies to mitigate legal liabilities? If someone pulled them into court over an incident, they can always point to their policy and say "Ah ha! We did our due diligence!"
3. You are the most bitter person I've ever seen post on the boards. You spew negativity, cynicism, and naked bias against everything and anything you disagree with. Your view of the EVE and the greater world is myopic and I've rarely seen you ever be objective about anything. To put it bluntly, you come off as extremely self-centered and feel as though you've been given a bad shake of things. When you enter into an argument, it's primarily for the satisfaction of proving your point...you never intended discuss anything, only push your view.
But don't worry...you can always tell me that you don't care what I think.
There are some people who enrich the forums, and there are some who do not. You belong to one of these groups.

Quite clearly you don't get out much if I make this grade in your EvE experience. However, I'll take your unsolicited assessment as a compliment and thank you.
Taikun
P.S. CCP "due diligence" = EULA & TOS. Read it and be enlightened. Or not... because CCP FAILS at making it completely clear.
They ask you to REFRAIN from doing it in one place... but Say you CAN'T in others... but give examples of you real name / address etc. But FAILS to specify email address.
I have a dedicated email address for my online game contacts to protect my real life identity. WHY can't I share that? Why... because CCP has contradicting and ambigious rules surrounding that and leave it up to glorified call center moderators to make the call.
Tis pathetic... always has been and probably will be for many years to come.

Just because you have the good sense to do it does not mean that everyone else has the good sense to do it. As you and I are well aware, some people around here are playing with a few cards short of a full deck. When you look at things from only your perspective, things will never add up quite right.
The second you stop thinking about only your point of view is the second that all the rest of this starts making sense. |
