Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit XFX 780i Motherboard 8800 GTX 4 GB RAM
Yesterday, I downloaded the newest nvidia drivers. Today, I installed EVE for the first time on this computer.
I was able to play the game with no problems on my old computer.
Anyway, I'm able to get through the cinematic fine, and the character selection is fine, it's when I get into the actual game that this problem occurs.
Basically, after about 30 seconds-1 minute, the screen would go black, a message displaying "nvlddmkm.sys has stopped responding" would appear, it would go black again, then about 6 seconds later a BSOD would come up saying "problem encountered with nvlddmkm.sys."
I asked for some help on another forum, and they told me that the new nvidia drivers might be causing the problem. So, I downgraded to their last driver release.
It seemed to help somewhat. I was able to stay in the game for about 2 minutes, and while still unplayable, it was at least a bit better. Anyway, what happened that time was that the screen would just go black, and that was it. I couldn't alt+tab or do anything. No error message came up, and there was no BSOD. Just had to press the power button.
What's strange is that I seem to only be getting this issue in EVE. Other games, like Age of Conan, Team Fortress 2, and Garry's Mod run fine.
Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this? I'm considering just buying an ATI card (the 4870 looks good for its price), but if I could find an actual fix for my current card, it'd be great.
Thanks.

175.16 - ran well 175.19 - performance drop and Nvidia remove it from download. 175.16 (new version) - Crashes EVE for me upon boot up (same timeframe as you)
Ran a few log servers and have submitted a bug report on it, but might have to use a modified inf from somewhere to get eve running.
Surprisingly, singularity runs very well with no glitches or framerate issues at all - I might re-install EVE for Tranquillity, not sure.
I'm not a Vista user, but the problems with drivers in the last week for Nvidia are of concern (3 revisions in one week?)

Please, could anyone help me?
My subscription is whittling away and I cannot play EVE for more than 20 seconds, literally.
Is there a 3rd-party driver I could use, or something? Omega drivers don't work on my computer for some reason (they give me blue screens.)

Same here, also with an 8800 GTX and Vista 64-bit.
I upgraded the NVidia drivers at the weekend (from 169.25, which shows you how infrequently I do this), and of course on the 1st there was the patch.
I've been getting "nvlddmkm.sys has stopped responding" pretty reliably after about half an hour of play. I think it's only happening after the patch rather than after the driver update, but I can't be sure.
Whatever reason,

Bah, Harper Stand is my alt.
Anyway, rolled back Vista to before I installed the updated drivers. Bad idea. Eve doesn't even start - I get the small splash screen and then nothing but Eve in the task bar.
My test server install still launches, so I'm trying a complete client reinstall.

EVE's tech support is so horrible, I actually just went out and bought an ATI card. It should arrive in a week or so. Hopefully, that'll solve the problem, since this issue only seems to be happening with nvidia drivers, and therefore, nvidia cards.

Let us all pray that the error is gone with your new, shiny videocard.
BTW, I've got an Nvidia 8800 GT, running it with Vista 64-bit Vista and 8 Gig RAM, no problem whatsoever this far.

Strange, I thought I had a problem on my hardware, but I got the exact same problem.
I also use 8800 GTX 32 bit vista 4gig ram.
Guess its all on the nvidia drivers, either eve patch their game or we hope that nvidia release a new driver soon that fixes it.
The only solution for all of us to be able to play is by turning OFF premium content then I can play random for 1-4 hours. But in premium content ON I can get in the game for 5-10 seconds 100% like you guys.
I got the same problem in some games sometime thou so I was afraid it was my grafic card that was broken some how. But now I think its the drivers 90% cause you got the same problems as I.
Sad we pay for this for eve thou.. CCP wake up and get into the community and speak out for once..

Not helpful, maybe informative: Near 30% of crashes caused by Nvidia drivers

Well, the 4870 came in, and it is able to run EVE flawlessly. No errors/blue screens/black screens/crashes/etc.
I don't think I'm going to go back to nvidia...
