CAUSE This behavior occurs because the Windows 2000 device driver for the Audigy sound card is not compatible with Windows XP, and Windows XP does not include an updated device driver for the Audigy sound card. |

I tried out both drivers from the creative hp. SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_0016.exe SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_18_000.exe both seem to result in crash, since I upgraded to premium client. It worked well with classic though... Is there no way to get eve working with sound? All other games work perfect with both drivers...

I don't remember exactly where this is located anymore, but have a look at the Soundcard in Device Manager and in Properties, see if you can lower hardware acceleration (or similiar). Or maybe this is located in Control Panel and Multimedia. It's a slider that lower the Soundcards performance, it could help.

I hope you're right. Because I'm having the EXACT same problem. However I took my Audigy card right out of the computer and switched over to using an on board Realtek audio device.
Game still crashed! :(
I went around and gathered some information from other forums and found this:
Quote: I've found someone who has had exactly the same issue as me and he found that it was due to a conflict between a DiVX AVI codec and his nVidia drivers. Funnily enough I also have DiVX installed and had been using it to watch videos encoded using AVI! So, hopefully, uninstalling - and removing all traces of - DiVX then uninstalling my nVidia drivers before re-installing them again *should* solve the issue. But I'm not counting my chickens just yet! ;) I *think* that I have sorted the issue out. I uninstalled the DivX AVI video codec and installed the libavcodec version instead when I installed FFDShow.
Also could be because under my computer, properties, device manager, some of the devices are coming up yellow on my computer.
I've disabled them. I've also disabled the sound on EVE and pumped the graphics back up to maximum possible (running on Nvidia gforce 9800GTX)
So far..so good. No sound :( but no crashes.

Edited by: Kyoko Kobayashi on 06/07/2008 03:31:40 I turned off hardware acceleration in game settings, uninstalled x-fire since the only messages I got was spam. Since then somehow it wont crash, well I still need to get the missions where I crash once or even twice.
I'll keep you up to date.
