ello there :)
Metal scraps can be quite annoying when you have to salvage alot of ships. They fill up your cargospace in no-time and jettisoning can be done only once in a while.
Would be very nice if we could just block certain items from our salvaging list :)
more people agree?

You can get round them filling your cargohold by towing around a jetcan behind your ship dumping all the stuff you don't want into it |

The simple solution is just to not bother salvaging the wrecks that produce vast ammounts of metal scraps . |

Granted, if your hold is too small to even HOLD the metal scraps from... say... a battleship, you dont get any salvage, and the jet can doesn't work. |

Cause those same ships can also drop Alloyed bars and Armor Plates. (Think of them as Omni-salvage, all the Generic wrecks are)
I say collect em, eventually, after many years of hard work, you can afford a T1 Frig =) |

This is a very good idea with applications far beyond Metal Scraps.
A Loot and Salvage options screen with tick boxes similar to overview settings to ignore/hide trade goods, modules by metalevel, salvage by tech level, minerals, ammunition types, etc, etc. This wouldn't just speed up looting for the mission runners but also for PvP'ers who won't have to scroll through lists of crap to grab that faction kit or those cap charges. Mercs can have good loot though. I've picked up two Hv Arbalest launchers off mercs and they fetch around 15 mil each. |

Sounds like this idea has alot of advantages wich would improve gameplay alot. I didnt even think about blocking all the other rubbish you get from salvaging.

I actually like how annoying they are. Gives salvaging another level of interaction beyond Target>Click>Wait (i.e., standard mining procedure). Admittedly its a very small and pretty lame extra level of interaction, but its there all the same. Micromanaging your salvage intake is something to keep your mind busy, and (as passingly mentioned in earlier posts) it can act as an incentive to salvage using ships with larger salvage bays. |

I'd like to see metal scraps removed or at least reduced in size considerably. They take up far too much space in relation to what you get from reprocessing. They have no real value, no decent return from reprocessing and just take up vast amounts of hold space for no real reason.
In the meantime, Tow a jetcan around, put your loot and metal scraps into it so you have an empty hold for salvaging. Salvage itself is very small so that makes little difference to your cargo size.
Personally, I would prefer a "dump" option added to the menu. As well as jettisoning, you can dump cargo which will last in space for about 2 or 3 minutes, has no ownership and can be scooped to cargo by anyone with enough space (but items scooped are damaged by being in space). Maybe use a generic "junk" icon on the overview. Honestly, what is the point of jetting a can for stuff that's never going to be retrieved? Same rules apply for dumping stuff as jetting cans to deliberately cause lag.
An alternative to the dump option is a two-part salvage scan. Scraps and such are deposited into the hold halfway through the scan and the salvage at the end. This allows for players to jettison the scrap before the salvage arrives.

I heard somewhere around here that Metal Scraps were specifically introduced into EvE to make Salvaging less mindless and tedious than Mining. So I think they're here to stay. Best get used to it. |

Not true. You could find metal scraps inside deadspace structures long before the salvaging feature was added to the game. |

you guys are overlooking one of the little joys of eve. scrap metal makes a wonderful gag gift. i not that long ago managed to offload 700 000 metres of scrap metal on a friend of mine who fancied himself an industrialist. the look on his face was priceless when he realized what i had stuck him with.
