This is a nightmare of an update. You guys are really doing it wrong.
I have 3 clients on which i run eve online
The first one i install this on is a laptop at work that does not start up or open anything after the patching is complete. I only see a black screen and that is the end of it I have to CTRL-ALT-DELETE it to get my laptop back working again This morning the launcher started by downloading an update and then crashed again after launching the program All i see is a black screen of nothing
I have installed the new launcher om my second system, that did manage to start up but only to find the client to be EXTREMELY slow (on a VERY good PC) and after setting all the graphic details to an absolute minimum i get some performance out of it
The third computer i have installed the new launcher on just downloaded the new launcher and then nothing happened I saw the launcher window, but the progress indicator bar did not start for 15 minutes I have reset the computer and restarted the eve client and only received the error message that i will paste under this message This is actually on a 8 core, 8GB memory, full SSD machine that is probably the fastest around on the consumer market at the moment. It just crashes horribly
Now guys, pleas don't give me that S**T about me having to re-download the whole program, adjusting my settings etc... etc... and your whole arrogant attitude of "our clients are doing it wrong" I actually am CEO / CTO of a large internet company and currently in charge of a large scale IT department. I know what i am talking about when it comes to releasing updates / new software
Releasing stuff that manages to crashes 3 different machines is a major error and a very very very good example of failing programmers / coding.
Working like this is an insult to your loyal customers that already have to put up with crashing servers, time dilation, captain quarters that NOBODY want etc.. etc..
Managment at CCP, take up your responsibility and reorganise your company. Roll back this error and use your common sense. Don't let your IT department be so powerfull that it can ruin your business.

Well guys, it is nice that your machines are working fine, but i am not making this up. 3 different machines, 3 different ways of crashing.
If your client is working fine then i would suggest you go back to your mining in highsec dayjob. |

I've not had a crash but there is definitely a loss of performance associated with the launcher - when you couple the resources which the launcher needs with the resources which are needed by CQ (which is the first thing any new player will see) you are looking at potentially a very poor first impression of performance of EVE. |

What is wrong is that things should actually just work. Putting respnsibilty for the correct execution of your programs in the hands of your customers is considered to be insulting in a professional environment.

Saw one fellow in the help channel earlier today complaining about very slow client performance. Claimed to have a degree in computer science. Why is it only 'experts' have such problems and average users dont? I hear voices and they don't like you very much! |

You guys are so dumb.
Lets say my programmers release a new version of our website that works flawlessly on a MAC with safari but does not work on a PC with windows XP and a IE8 browser. What you guys are saying is that i should then ask all my customers to download a different browser otherwise they can not use my website.
Maybe you should just refrain from your dumb and insulting comments and let grown up people solve this. |

Once you get the splash up, go to the tools Icon, top right.
In there you will find a start up option and you can set to close when EVE launches and Only open for updates.
I clicked them both and EVE launches the same as it did pre1.5 and like you, the game is slow now. Ilogged in earlier and there were around 18K on, I moved a character 18 jumps over 4 regions and every system, the load time was 2 minutes+ for overview. After getting to the station I wanted to be in, I couldn't use the market, couldn't view my wallet, was being dropped 3 times average every 10 minutes.
I don't know what they did but it isn't "working as intended". Unles they intended to force us all to dock up and not play for a week. |

Largely because you'd be doing your customers the most significant favour in their lives.
You really should have picked a different simile since the issue the case you describe unequivocally lies with IE.
By the way, not being a tech CEO / CTO, but rather a social science researcher, I'm having none of the issues you describe over six installations on four machinesGǪ so the whole GÇ£tone down the arroganceGÇ¥ theme you're trying to run with here should probably be directed somewhere else. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

This is exactly the same that i see on the only machine (out of 3) that still launches.

Offcourse the problem lies with IE in cases like this, but 70% of our customers are using this. You are suggesting i should do away with 70% of my business out of programming arrogance? Do you think an attitude like that reflects a professional insight?

You can still launch the game without using the launcher just run the exe for the game instead of the launcher, its just a new front for launching the game for now. Updates as far as i'm aware can still be downloaded via the old method as my launcher failed to update the game so ran exe and updated via the old method now its working.
As for the launcher not loading run the repair tool from the eve folder, some people i've spoken too had the same issue with it not launching the launcher or getting a black screen. |
