Hi all,
Just a quick question. What skills and level of the skills are appropriate to fly a Carrier properly. Not to just jump in and have the bare minimum to fly it.
Thanks in advance

Tbh, if you can't work it out yourself, you shouldn't be flying one.

Well, lets see:
Tanking: Armor or shield, as appropriate. You'll need the nifty CAPITAL Armor or Shield boosters---if I see another XL booster on a capital so help me I'll pod you.
Drone Interfacing 5, then fighters 4 or 5 and Adv Drone Interfacing 3-5. These let you use fighters and add to your drone count with the appropriate modules.
Capital Shield/Armor transport arrays: see the Capital Shield emission systems skill and Capital Remote Armor/Hull repair systems skills.
Basically, max out your tanking skills, your remote rep skills, and your drone skills.
Oh, and Jump Fuel Conservation 3+, and Jump Drive Calibration 4. They are needed.
tl;dr: Do a market search for the word "capital" and if its a module, get that prereq skill plus a few levels. And no XL boosters/reppers, or I keel you. ----------------------------------------------- Adm Vladimir Tinakin CFO Hadean Drive Yards |

Oh god not AGAIN. It's not even one day since the last "carrier skills" thread ! Well, at least the other one is strangely in ships&modules.
Short version : all even remotely relevant skills to 4, all support skills to 5 for "proper" use. Medium version : depends a lot on what exactly you plan to do with it - minimal skills to fly it might actually be decent enough in the right circumstances Sarcastic version : the most important skill is "Bring Friends" trained at least to level 6, preferably over 9000.

On a side note, if the OP is planning to fly a carrier with a toon named Billy Bigballs he has every right to do so without a full compliment of skills ;)
A good start would be:-
Cap ship lvl 4 Racial Carrier lvl 4 Fighters lvl 4 Cap shield / armour rep lvl 4 (delete according to race, but both would be a nice touch eventually) Cap energy transfer lvl 4 Jump drive Op lvl 5 + lvl 4 for the other 2 nav skills T2 heavy drones lvl 4

From my experience you dont need to train Advanced Drone Interfacing higher than 1 or 2. With carrier 4 and one DCU you can use 10 fighters / drones and fit more useful stuff in your highs like neutralizers, smartbombs and remote repair systems. If you are going against anything bigger than a Battlecruiser, neutralizers will help you much more as you kill your enemies cap and their ability to tank. ----------------------
