If CCP needs an example of what we're needing then I suggest they fire up Sins of a Solar Empire and uncheck the options "Use Colored Skyboxes" and "Use Deep Space Skyboxes" in the Effects menu. It demonstrates exactly what we want. ---

Dear god yes, being unable to see what modules are active in 90% of starsystems is absurd.

Edited by: Tamoko on 20/08/2008 20:48:00 I have no colour handicap, yet I have an absolutely awful time telling which of my icons are glowing green on most backgrounds. That besides, space just feels too damn bright.
It may be a bit premature asking for this right now, in light of the fact that celestials are getting revamped in the (distant?) future in accordance with the Direct X 9c upgrades, unless what I've been hearing is just hearsay. (edit: Thanks to the post above mine for an official statement.) I'll mark my support for this, but my biggest hope is that CCP reduces the "artsy shit" in the background when they redo the nebulae for Trinity gfx. |

And this light flashing green when my launchers are on is so slightly noticeable !
I wish we had some freedom in setting the UI..

Originally by: Ekrid Hmm, I can currently stick any part of my UI over the brightest nebula and find that It doesnt affect me.
do you fail? yes I think so.
so.. you can see unboardered white text on a white background?
That is some serious magic you have there.

I am not sure I feel better about this issue seeing the dev's response. When you start talking 'awesome' it often means the artists want to show off their skills and making complex, cluttered things.

Edited by: Tessen on 29/08/2008 14:21:01 +1 give us the choice. Space is cold, space is dark, nebulas are awesome but stars are wonderfull.
A simple quote/unquote in esc menu plz.

Very annoying.
Sometimes can't see whether a module is active or not.

Edited by: Par''Gellen on 02/11/2008 15:31:25 I have heard that this is being addressed in the next patch but I see no difference on sisi or am I looking in the wrong place? Is it a hidden setting somewhere? ---

The space I inhabite has nebulae all over the place with brighter part at the bottom, its frequent i have to tilt the cam 90 degrees looking at the bottom of my ship, just so i can see the modules.

This was a part of the issue I raised during CSM1 about making the UI colour-blind friendly.

I remember one time when a glitch caused the background skybox to vanish, leaving only the stars. To me it looked much better than any skybox I've seen, except the Eve Gate one.
So I say, let us turn off all the skyboxes except the Eve Gate wormhole, leaving only the stars behind. If you like them, you can leave them turned on. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues |

I would like to see more black systems. I'd also like to see more *different* nebulas. I'd like some sections of space to be vast and empty black expanses. I'd some to have unique and beautiful nebulas, nova remnants, etc. We need "badlands" in addition to more empty skies. |
