Hello I am new to Eve and I just picked up a comorant. I have been mining a ton and have a decent amount of cash. Most of my skills are level 2 to 3 with a few in the fours. I am currently working on getting all my learning skills to four.
Here is my current set up.
Highs: 7 125 mm Prototype Gauss Gun, 1 Auto Targeting System Mids: Cold Gas Afterburner, 3 Small subordinate Screen Stabilizers, Low: Mark I Generator refitting Diagnostic System
I am currently running level two missions, worlds collide, which got my Kestrel blown up on the first mission. Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Edited by: Snow Banshee on 08/07/2008 10:13:28 my 2 cents:
a) "never fly a ship you cant afford to lose" ( in other words: everybody loose ships. Newbs and Veterans, so be ready to loose also this one and the furure you will buy, and leave you always enough cash to replace the loss)
b) train your skills above L2-3
c) trainn leaning skills to 4 is a good idea in order to train advanced learning skills ( at least to lv3), but i think you can switch sometimes to other skills just to fly your ship a bit better.
d) i dont like destroyers... imho they are just waste of training and from frigs i would jump directly to cruisers.

Lv2 missions are generally cruiser missions. You'd probably really struggle in a destroyer, destroyers really shine in Lv1 missions but they just can't take the heat in some Lv2s.

I did exactly the same thing when I first started out and it was a horrendous mistake for me.
In my opinion you are far better off in a Merlin or a Kestrel.
If you are having trouble with worlds collide you probably aren't taking advantage of the Kestrel's range.
Fit 4 standard missile launchers, an afterburner and a small shield booster (plus whatever else fits or whatever you need to make it fit like a Micro Auxilliary Power core).
Any time you get in trouble (like the big spawn in room 2 of worlds collide) light up the AB and Shield booster, select one of the frigates orbiting you and hit keep at range 25KM. The shield booster will keep you in one piece long enough for you to get out of range of their guns (while still being in range for your missile launchers) and you can take the ships out one by one.
destroyers look good on paper but somehow fail to deliver. The big problem is they don't do much more damage than a frigate but are a far bigger target for thos NPCs to shoot at.
Failing that save up for a caracal.
