Edited by: Celestial Demon on 09/07/2008 11:07:45 I again was promised a 1 vs 1 by a pirate where the guys friend came in a HAC the second I warped in and killed my cruiser.
Theres a old proverb thats goes a bit like this..
Screw me once shame on you Screw me twice shame on me
I seem to be to trusting towards people and usually get burned for it.
I just refuse to believe everyone is dishonest and try to find the good in people.
Am I wrong for this, even in real life right after I get burnt from trusting people I always think why even bother sometimes.
I think why not just be a s****bag like them.
But then I also shake it off and say at least I got my morals.
Its been getting to the point now though that my morals don't put food on my table in real life and they don't prevent me from being scammed and ganked ingame.
Im not sure how long I can continuing being nice guy, because im always trampled on.

I have been wondering same thing. There's so much shit happening ingame that it makes me sick sometimes. And they all call it "it's EVE". Yes and no. It is EVE but it's not EVE. It's the people who are playing EVE. CCP made a sandbox to play in and we choose the style...
I have been thinking what if the majority of players starts to abuse, scam, trick, kill, steal each other like all the time and all day long. What kind of Eve do we have then?
"There's no carebears to kill anymore, what i'm going to do???? Mom??"

No offense, but wake up. This isn't the magical land of trusting, where everyone loves eachother and people frolic around with happy little fairies and nothing bad happens.
Use your head. Yeah, so you're a nice guy. You want to trust people. Sorry, that's just not how the world works (eve universe or rl). Stop being so naive.
There's an old proverb in eve as well. It's simple, and states:
"DONT ACCEPT 1v1s."

So... you had a 1 vs 1 against his mate in the HAC instead?
It may have been a sh*tty tactic but if this guy was a pirate, then he makes his money from piracy/killing people.
You died, he got the mods that remained, he made money. It's not about honour, it's just business

EDIT: also celestial, you might want to go the the doctor for some anti depression help ASAP, all you do is go to the forums and complain tbh, "i got screwed over by a PIRATE, i was just trying to find the good in people, why bother???......." sounds like your ready to commit suicide, plus all your other posts for getting scammed, and coming to the FORUMS to sell a smartbomb, and wondering why your not getting and hits, thats what contracts are for, if not, put it up in local a few times, and you'll probably get a few hits as well, this is EVE, good practically does not exist tbh

Not everyone is dishonest about 1v1's. One of our corp policies is to honor them and I always have. I have participated in a 1v1 twice ever and both times it went off without a hitch. Just be smart about who you are doing it with, who else is in local and always be prepared/ready for the situation that it is just a trap. ----- http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

aye, but if you know the OP, you would realize as well, that it seems like he goes around and looks to be screwed over, then complain about it on the forums, with as much as he seems to get it

If you have to ask the question, maybe the answer is - well don't then.
EvE doesn't have practice-pit battleground arenas for 1v1 built-in. So enter at your own risk.
You want to associate this to RL - Would you 1v1 a guy in a bar who is probably with all his mates? Especially if you know the guy is possibly a scam/con-artist and no-gooder.

In EvE, do not under any circumstances trust anyone unless they have proven that they can be trusted. Even then, keep them at arms length, some ppl can be sneaky...

Posting in a Celestial thread.
If you'd never posted that "remove C&P" thread and several others, people might be tempted to 1v1 you honorably. Or you could learn to be like garmon and kill HACs with a T1 cruiser... ------------

I'm a nice guy and I make all my money killing people and keeping my word. I have morals. If I tell you I won't kill you, I won't. On the other hand, if I don't say so, you're dead. Simple and easy.
You can be a pirate and still be trustworthy and have honor. But I'm not saying that most pirates/people are inherently trustworthy either.
